Once again

I have 10 $50 tow monies to give away. Most likely they will have to go to the cars coming from the greatest distance (one each, and if the car count is less than 10 overall, well I'll go back to the head of that line and give one each again until the money's gone). We need the visual experience down here, and the pics and the video, and the coverage from Vintage Oval Racer Magazine, and maybe, just maybe I can have a fire started for next year.

Also- Keep in mind 'turn 2' comes up on you pretty quick, (looks to me like anyways), so if you run fast be ready to kinda rein it in down there.

Please run clean , put on a show, and be the cowboys you is.............................They'll love you for it!

Displays only are totally welcome! I gots one too.

Okay here's one to ponder

I have no idea where they are measuring their temps at, airport tarmac maybe?

But right now it's 5 degrees cooler here than what the temp is on this link

We are at 98, and they are saying we're at 104! I don't know where they measure at, but it must be hotter there.

So....if we are expected to be at 96 degrees Saturday on this link, as of this moment, then that could mean we'll be closer to 90 degrees where we're at come saturday?

All I know is, the 'edge' came off the heat on this weekend in 2009, and seems to me it did last year too. This is one of those weekends that stay on my radar when it comes to putting something together, whether or not it's Labor Day (that is a simple coincidence), I look for a couple of other things, and weather patterns factor in.

Up here in Kansas we are forecasting 90 sat 83 sun 82 mon. So the 50+ days of 100's are going going going gone soon.

Looks like 90's for you down there same time period????

Outside temperature is dropping! 95 degrees where I'm at, at this time of 3:21 pm.

That's 10 degrees lower than it was last week.

Energy is high, and people are acting crazier than usual- they're looking for a good time. That is a sympthom I was expecting for this weekend, and it looks to be coming in. Some secrets I don't tell, but I'll bet the Farmers Almanac will give some clues!

Brian, I'll be there tomorrow. The rest of the guys have to much going on this weekend to make it down. I may not get there until about the time the pit gates open as my wife has decided to come with me and she has a baby shower in the morning to attend.

The Red Racer is loaded, I just have to strap her down in the morning, load a few more things and we'll be ready to hit the road.

We had a great time Saturday night. The heat cooled down a bit, the crowd really liked the cars, and smiles were big when it was over.

I finally got some sleep this morning at 9 am. I just woke up now, and have to go back into work-which means I'll have to post what I have tomorrow.

All,

We had a great time at Southern Oklahoma Speedway last night. It's a nice track with hopefully a bright future under the new ownership. They welcomed us at the track and let us have some fun both showing our cars as well as driving them. More will follow. Here is the line-up that we had. With 6 cars we pretty much covered most of vintage dirt track racing.

Well the Red Racer survived the night and made it home safe. To Brian, Dan, and all the rest of the guys, I just want to let you know I enjoyed the show last night. Crowd response and track time was great. Hope to see you all again sometime.

Thanks

All,

Here is my in-car camera video from Saturday. Sorry it's mostly of the Red Racer's yellow bumper... I had a great time. For those who do not know the video was made using an iPod and a homemade mount. No high dollar stuff here.

Everything turned out good, and this time it went like clockwork when we got onto the track.

I decided it was best to not run my car and see to it that I was more organized insofar as getting us on the dirt without a hitch. I've been told many times to either drive or organize, --doing both is very difficult.

So from now on, or at least until things are more easily understood as to the needs for the drivers , I'll not be driving in any events that I push through. Slowly the barriers will ease, and maybe I can get onto the track here someday. I REALLY found it much less stressful not worrying about the car once I got there.

The new track owners seemed very pleased we were there, I'm very certain we can build on this for next year. The crowd definitely liked us being there.

Thank you to all you guys that came out, and to the wives for putting up with our passion.

You guys with the coupes looked good.

Brian, I'll say it again, I had fun. After I told the guys I race with, how much I enjoyed it, they sure were wishing they could've made it also. They said next year, get it set up and they will try their best to make it!

If anyone would like to see the 6 cylinder cars race, we will be at Crawford County Speedway on Sept. 24th and Oct. 15th. CCS is located just a few miles north of Van Buren, AR on Ark. Hiway 59 North. As they say at CCS, Dig It, It's Dirt!!!!

Keep those Vintage Wheels Turning!

Brian,

The Ardmore article will be published in the next Vintage Oval Racing magazine. Thanks. Let's hope Kennedale can build on this success.

Great! I'm sure that can help us expand on plans for next year.

Can I get a copy this fall? I need to get one to the track promoter at Ardmore.

ON TO KENNEDALE!

Brian,

I should get a couple of extra copies. I also gave them the address for Ardmore and they will send copies to them also. You may want to warn them to keep an eye out for the magazines. I will post the article when it get published. You should subscribe to this magazine. I enjoy seeing what other clubs are doing.
