I talked to the new owner of LCS this past week about some track time for the old cars and he was eager to try !

So , september 3rd we will have track time to anybody interested. I'll be looking for 2(two) sets of hot laps to start with-AND NO BEING PUSHED TO A HOT INFIELD LIKE MY PREVIOUS ATTEMPTS.

Lake Country Speedway is right off 1-35 , on the Oklahoma side of Red River, around mile markers 30-34. I'll get more specific as time comes through.

The track is a banked 3/8ths mile, and improvements are underway BEFORE the re-opening date in mid-July.

Reports about the reputation of LCS have been positive in the last few years, so I'm thinking it will be fine when we get there.

Oh and one more thing, there will not be a huge show we have to contend with, this is only to have fun . Dan Carlson and I represent several others who wish to get in some track time, and we are on good terms with every vintage organization closeby.

DISPLAYS ARE ALSO WELCOME, just let me know.

any questions call me at 580-465-8351

Don't forget

Kennedale also has a vintage get together on Oct 1st. The idea is get set in stone interest for having shows in the future. This thing we love will not die, and we do not know how to give up.

You will find more info for the Kennedale show here

We now have 6 cars so far that plan to be here. That's great! There are a few more I'd like to see here. But this time I am looking at a slightly different approach. I'm still looking for what this hobby promised to be----fullfilling.

This time I will be looking NOT SO MUCH TO SET ANY CAR ATTENDANCE RECORD, but rather going back to simply having a good time. I have found that 'everything positive promotes more positive'.

That being said, the 'general vintage/nostalgia rules' still apply. We have been, and will be attacked for not following 'everybody's individual idea' of just what 'vintage' is supposed to be.

I've found this works

1. All non-wing 100" open wheel NCRA influenced super/modified cars are invited.

2. Sprint cars and midgets (non wing and non-downtube) before 1987.

3. Coupes and sedans pre-1948 (of course!)-must have a straight axle frontend.

4. Should you bring in a fendered car- at this time bodystyles BEFORE AND INCLUDING 1972.

5. Anything else, please get in touch with me, I like to please, but I have limits that have to be worked with.

Things have changed so much over the last 2 years, and I now have come into another, but with better potential, oppurtunity. I have a strong sense of responsibility to those that are still building cars.

We will be called 'want to be' racers. Let them call us so if they need to. We will STILL RESPECT history, and WORK to put forth the colors and shapes before you in motion , that you learned to love so long ago. Every year is a 'building year' , and getting the great cars, or clones thereof, is much more difficult than I ever imagined.

I still plan on putting videos out, looking for more, and pushing pictures around as well. I am working on less 'historian attitude' for myself, and working on the bigger picture. ALL OF IT, WORKS TOGETHER in regards to bringing the good part of the past back to life.

Before we criticize each other to the point that there is no fun to this venture, or ventures like these, remember to respect those that get down into the arena, track or political, and face rejection and dissapointment head on--just to hopefully put a smile on someones face. There is no money in this for anyone but possibly the track owner (they lose too sometimes these days).

Should this go on and thrive, pieces of history will continue to come back up to the surface, and there could be more people that would actually ..."care". A man has to desire in the beginning, and he still has to have that desire when he unloads his car for the first time. Keep his fire lit, and he will return.

Keep those ideas going! I think you are heading in the right direction.

I've noticed as of late that too many are trying to hurt the effort before it gets off the ground.

Don't let them spoil it for you. Hang in there!

I have to keep a watchful eye on myself too. I do believe someone could do this job better than me, but I notice a gap, and I have to try.

Thanks Scott

Brian, I will try to bring my 37 Chevy (Ford I6 powered) coupe from NE OK, work permitting. I'm talking to the guys I race with and some of them may come down as well.

Thanks for your efforts

Looking forward to meeting you, Brian, and anyone else that enjoy the vintage race cars. Here's a picture of some of our club on the Historic Half Mile, Thunderbird Speedway in Muskogee, OK taken on June 3rd.. The blue and white 34 Ford came all the way from Mississippi to visit with us.

Crazy part is

There hasn't been a steel bodied coupe on a dirt track in this town since 1958!

After seeing how OkC was doing with Taft, they did have a 1/4 mile track north of Ardmore for half a season in 1958. Unfortunately a security guard got hurt so bad, they shut it down.

I did get to see one of the cars that was to run there, and they were very much like the cars in OkC, just not quite as polished.

none of those cars exists today, well ABOVE ground that is.

I'd also like to point out this

If you have anything that promotes shows, clubs, or anything that promotes this movement

Feel free to do so.

As the overall car counts come up in the region, "friendly overlaps" will be a blessing.

Here we are racing at Crawford County Speedway near Van Buren, AR on May 28th of this year. Andy in the 27 car was leading the Jr Modified divison late in the season (inline 6) in 1967 on this track, but had to move and wasn't able to complete the run for the title. His 16 year old grandson drives the white Chevy coupe with Andy's orginal car number. We enjoy racing at this track as it feels more like home to some of us and we are always welcome.

Keep on turning LEFT!!!!

Lined up and ready to go out for our heat race at West Siloam Speedway June 4th (sad to say but WSS shut down two weeks ago). The 33 Plymouth in front is an old mod turned rat rod that is used as our pace car and it's driven by Roy Andrews, he's well known from racing in Kansas from way back in the day. The purple double zero is a V8 car that he has put an inline 6 in until he can get his inline car built. We had another great night of racing despite a rough track surface.

Roy Andrews #17 now there is a name from the past. He was well known in the Wichita, Hutchinson area. Watched him race in the 60's at Mohawk Speedway. MOPAR man back then. Everbody seems to retire and move to Missouri, Arkansas and Eastern Oklahoma.

Here's a picture of Roy and his 33 Plymouth modified converted to a rat rod. When he can. he goes with us and uses the 33 car as our pace car. I enjoy his pictures and his stories. He's a pretty cool guy. He lives in the NW Ark. area.

Does anyone know if LCS is a short or long 3/8 mile track? This will help on what gear to run.

Thanks
