First and foremost congratulations to Brad Sweet on his Kings Royal win, I'm glad I was there for his first. Now it's time for me to vent, just remember this is my oppinion. I've been to the Big E for four different decades and it will probably be my last. I don't mind drinking, I do it myself, but I believe it has gotten out of control. Where I was sitting Saturday night it was very hard to enjoy the race, way to many OBNOXIOUS drunks! I've never been around so many smartasses in all my years going to the races. I also know that we (us racing fans) need to have new fans but you would think they would at least know a little about what goes on at a race.It would also be nice to have a non smoking section or do like Knoxville has and have no smoking in the stands, it was kinda tough on a couple of kids that were there with their parents because the smoke was blowing right at them. jmo

I understand completely.. I watched the race from the Pits last year cause I knew I wasn't drinkn cause of not camping over night.. This year I was with some friends sittin in the bleachers.. They've been drinkin all day. I felt bad for some people around us that had some kids there.. I did my best to have them watch there mouths but didn't work so well.. As for the smoking part I have no problems if they do away with smoking in the stands. I smoke, but when its crowded like that and with younger kids around I go away from people to smoke..

4 decades and just now coming across obnoxious drunks. I mean, I agree with you. But come on. Your just now seeing it. Sounds fishy to me. But I have seen that kind of behavior at pretty much all the tracks that have big events. Some worse than others.

No smoking in the stands is not Knoxville raceways idea, it is state law.

First time making the trip. And I can assure you, I will be back. The place is amazing, great racing, cheap drinks/food, just an all around great atmosphere. Only complaint is the arrogant old guy who felt the need to bring a stadium chair and sit in front of me and was practically in my lap all night and used my knee as a back rest. Anytime I would move my leg he would almost fall backwards he was back so far. Oh yeah, and the adult who never put his phone down long enough to remove his hat for the prayer and national anthem.

I'm not saying that there hasn't been in past years, it's the fact there are so many now.

I can't even believe this post ,,,,Been going to Eldora for decades??? Back in the 80s and 90s there was very little security,,bring your own bottle,,and all kinds of wild things going on with very little order! The Kings Royal is LAME compared to back then. Sheriffs officers were everywhere and everyone in my area had a great time! Do you want more regulations keep bitching and ruin it for everyone. Maybe next year they should have a suit and tie dress code for a dirt track. Did you loose your memory? What is this world coming to?

Hopefully other states will enact this law soon.

i gotta agree the old days were way more outa control. We used to bring in a cooler that held 4 or 5 cases of beer and 3 bottles of wine ! ! ! ! people would get hammered and roll down the hill and lay right next to the fence. allot has changed at Eldora over the years, I really think the racing today is the best it has ever been.

I agree completely with you Grizz. My wife won't set foot in the place becasue of the drunks. A few years ago I took a good friend and his wife to the Kings Royal - their first race ever of any kind. They've never been to another race since, and these are people who go to Sturgis every year! I have a nephew who loves the races - I'd never take him to Eldora. But then critcizing the almighy Eldora will get you lambasted!

Ruin what for everyone? The opportunity to get drunk, make a fool of yourself, and ruin the night for others who paid the same ticket price you did, and BTW have a right to not have to put up with that? Remember the story from Knoxville last year where the idiots got so drunk and out of control? Go back and read that thread again.

That's why I prefer the may shows and the September show place is a ghost town compared to the royal.you can sit where ever you want no lines and hardly no drunks. Ps and I'm a drinker.

The amount of drunk people has started to get out of hand the past few years. The smoking bothers me more simply because I have had lung issues since I was a little kid. What is the problem with having a few beers, talking to the people around you without being obnoxious, sitting down during the race, and not blowing your smoke in people's face? Seems like there are those that need to ruin other people's experience in order to have fun.

The F.Q.I. (fan quality index) always drops to alarmingly low levels at the KR.

How bout' the guy down in the front row toward turn 1 who felt the need to escort his favorite driver around the track every lap by pointing with his entire body. Sit down there chump, we don't give an eff who your rooting for.

Then there's always and I mean always 'stand up even though no one else is standing up guy'. I can't fathom how someone can be so oblivious to everything around them.

I love this race but at the same time kinda glad when those 2 days are over.

This was our 4th Kings Royal, and probably the most enjoyable .After 3 previous trys we had really great people around our campsite, and made things more fun than in the past.As far as the drunks and disrespectful fans(?)there everywhere these days ,I like to refer to it as the FU generation.Heck i even saw a whole family over in turn 3 ,that not only could'nt remove their hats for the national anthem, they did'nt stand their dumb asses up!!Yep FU generation for sure

We had the nascar fans in front of us Friday ...standing to watch . Sitting in turn 4 and could have moved but didn't. Saturday we were under the roof in the main grandstand and had these seats for at least 14 years and we are fine .It seems like the first turn side is more mellow on Friday This was the first time we sat in 4 .We do not have reserved seats for Friday and go wherever. Going to the "grove"each week I'm used to this type of fan in certain areas of the track.

Went to the Friday show and have been to most since they started the Royal. Friday wasn't bad as far as unruly fans. There is a big dfference between rowdy and unruly fans. I wouldn't go to Saturday's race if you paid me...I'm done dealing with drunks and morons. Nothing wrong with having fun, don't be an idiot though. We are spoiled at Knoxville, very few drinkers around us.
