Paid for a Fri/Sat ticket...Gladly stayed in the Free State to watch a late model race...

"A bad day at work is better than a good race spent with drunken idiot guy!" Smile

Ruin what for everyone? The opportunity to get drunk, make a fool of yourself, and ruin the night for others who paid the same ticket price you did, and BTW have a right to not have to put up with that? Remember the story from Knoxville last year where the idiots got so drunk and out of control? Go back and read that thread again.

So you blame the KR for drunks being idiots? Have you never seen this anywhere else? Go to a pro or college football game, wedding reception ,bar, or any other fuction with alcohol and some without and youve never seen this. Best thing you can do if you have a problem with this just DONT GO! SIMPLE AS THAT!

I sat in turn 4 Saturday night and had a GREAT TIME!!! There was one group of 5 that were kind of a pain in the butt a little bit, but not too bad. Everyone else around us were great, no complaints!

I by no means promote drunk idiots but if they are too out of hand get security,,,sheriffs were everywhere. Other than that let the people have fun. I had a great time and yes I seen a few stumblers but for the most part everyone behaved as much as could be expected in my area.

Ya, it's my fault for taking my wife or little 6 year old nephew to a race and expecting to not be subjected to some foul mouthed idiot drunks around me. What was I thinking? How about if you can't act like an adult - you DON'T GO, THAT'S SIMPLE TOO!

Went to Fridays race, lots of drunks outside the main grandstand. Skipped Saturday night to start vacation early. After a few years of dealing with complete drunken fools on Saturday night, I will only go Saturday and stay in the pits to watch. It's a real shame that the culture of this event is half the crowd is beyond shit faced. Not anything I would want my company's name associated with as a sponsor.

I,m not sticking up for drunk idiots and dont point the finger at me. I had a few responsible beers and minded my own business. My point is if your offended get security . The sheriiffs will stop profanity or any misbehaving fans. Just dont come on here complaining instead of doing something about it. Sprint car racing needs the younger generation or it will die! Let the people have fun in an orderly way! Again if you can't handle it STAY HOME!  Its no secret you can buy liquor, beer, and smokes on the grounds ,so prepare for that if you attend!

You're right. If you don't want to listen to a bunch of vulgar mouth, drunken idiots, then don't go. After going to Eldora at least 6 times a year, along with my wife and daughter and then my granddaughter for too many to count years I got tired of listening to them also. So we stopped going about 4 years ago. I'm sure TS could care less and doesn't miss my money. And saying it happens at all tracks is a bunch of crap.

I personally like to have a few beers at the races... but telling a fellow race fan that "if he can't put up with a bunch of out of control drunk idiots, then he should just stay home" is ridiculous.  People should take responsibility FOR THEMSELVES in this country.

Sounds to me like you are sticking up for the drunk idiots.  What's odd is that at the other tracks around Eldora that I've been to, Limaland, Gas City, Waynesfield, Lawrenceburg, I've never had any problems.

Agreed, but I have been to Eldora plenty of times and have never had a problem. It is just Kings Royal weekend when people are camping all weekend long and drinking the whole time and this whole if you can't handle it B.S needs to stop. People who are being responsible individuals and being curtious to others should not have to stay at home just because of some stupid people do not know how to control their drinking. I'm not saying prohibit alcohol all together because I had a few this weekend myself, but I wasn't being loud and obnoxious like some people were in the sections next to me. Just because its a big race, doesn't mean you have to get drunk and stupid and ruin it for the majority of people around you. It only takes a couple morons to ruin it for everyone.

Ok here we go,,what kind of problems did you actually have at the KR? Was it your first KR? If this year bothered you so much you must have missed several years of Kings Royals or you would have known what to expect. Attendance seems to have grown over the last 20 years so what was different this year? How about next year you go To country concert a few miles from Eldora and you wont have to deal with this behavior. LMAO. IF YOU CANT HANDLE IT JUST STAY HOME!

Next year , free cigarette butts to use for ear plugs for the loud race cars and loud fans.Maxi pads to put over your face and nose because of the fumes ,nasty dust, and dirt those nasty smokers and race cars put off. And blinders so you dont have to put up with anyone having fun or bad racing you might encounter! Problem corrected!!!

From what I have heard the country concert is worse I have heard some stories about that place I thought it would take some of the younger crowd away from the royal that is the one time a year race fans.

I won't go as far as to say "if you can't handle it stay home" but I really don't understand all the complaints. I've been gong to the kings royal for the last 8 or 9 years. I'm 29 years old and I got with my father and a group of his friends all in their mid 60's (some have beemn going since it started) and one or two other guys in their 40's. Most of us drink while we are there but not to the point where it's ridiculous. I had a few beers Friday night and didn't drink at all on Saturday. I've done my share of drinking at the kings royal but never bothered anyone. I don't hit it too hard anymore because I'd rather remember and enjoy the race, some years I didn't. But who is anyone to judge if someone should or shouldon't drink there. Everyone spent their hard earned money to enjoy the Kings Royal. If they choose to spend that time getting blackout drunk ,so be it. I've been there before and would never judge anyone for doing it. They have security and many sherifs/police officers all over the place. If someone is offendeding you to the point where it's ruining your time let security know. That is one of the reasons they are there. is personally think there is some entertainment value to some of the people being hammered. Myself and the older guys I go with laugh at the things we see. every year on Friday the same 2 guys sit infront of us. They get smashed and act like fools. We make fun of them and have a good laugh.

I'll get to my main point now that I've written a book: alcohol or not there are idiots/jerks everywhere. The larger the crowd, the more there will be. This isn't exclusive to the kings royal, dirt tracks, racing, sporting events, or any other large gathering of people. You have the choice to let these people bother you or not. My advice is to try and igrnore the jerks and not let them bother you. If you get offended or your wife or kid has to hear something nasty or offensive tell the jerk to stop. If they get hostile or don't stop, get security. It sounds more like you some of you have issues with large crowds and drinking in general not actually the kings royal. If that's the case maybe this event isn't for you. Judging from the amount of people I see there eveey year having a blast and enjoying the races they won't miss your ticket money..

I've been to 23 of the 30 Kings Royals and will go back as long as I'm able!

I sit in section BB and we have had some problems in the past but nothing to keep me from coming back.  I'm a non-drinker

now and I'm not too bothered by those that do.  The fans around us this year were outstanding and most of them have maintained the same seats for many years, as I have.

The only problem I have was the fact that the 50/50 drawing didn't occur until after the feature!  That's just crazy!  There was many chances to draw the number and award the prize!  I won't be buying any more 50/50 tickets in the future if this is going to continue.  I've got a long drive home to the west side of Indianapolis.

I'm 70 years old and I wore myself out walking the pits before hot laps and shopping along the many team trailers.  I even bought a couple shirts!  The atmosphere is outstanding and seems to get better after all the years.

I'm always glad to see a first time winner, even though I'm a Steve Kinser fan.  It was good to see Steve make the pass to get into the Kings Royal for the 30th consecutive time.

One other thing.  I would like to see the purse increased to $100,000 to win and also throughout the field.  The gate warrants this increase without increasing ticket prices, or increasing them just slightly.  $50,000 was a big deal in 1984 but 30 years later there should be a bigger payday for the teams.

I disagree that attendance has increased. I would say it peaked in the late 90's/early 2000's, and started to drop. I would say it has remained the same the last several years. At one point it was a solid group of people from turn 3 to turn 2, you couldn't see any grass in 1 and 2!

I agree with PHJIndy, the purse is overdue to be increased. I am willing to pay more for a ticket and more for my pizza burger! And waiting until the driver interviews were over for the 50/50 was ridiculous! I didn't have as long a drive as you,  but still didn't get out of the shower til 2:15 AM after getting home!
