Hutch Nats. 1966 This was the last year for the OK wide body cars. Check out the headers on the 112 car. The 7 is the Miller car from Ark City, Ks. with Jerry Everhart driving. The blue car is Evard Humpfrey.

Dwane,

These still are my favorites along with the ole '37 Chevy Coupes from the early '60's.

Pretty wild. My guess is this was on the nightstands, and shoptables of many racers at that very moment.

A friend of mine had this magazine and he is trying to find it. If he is able to find it he will donate it to the veterns fund to be auctioned off. I hope that he can find it , he said that he has not seen it in over 20 years

Got this in an email from Shane Carson

"I was there that day (12 years old),...That was Evards championship car (1966).

Evard had engine problems and dropped out on the 21st lap.

Local driver Henry Ellington won that 50 lap event, Dale Case from OKC ran 2nd, Cleman Humphrey ran 6th, and my buddy Walt Pickard from Pueblo, CO ran 9th.

They had 12,000 people there that day, and 85 cars took times,.they cut the field to 45 and ran 4 heats.

Heats were won by:

Buddy Cagle, Tulsa

Benny Taylor, Tulsa

Harold Leep, Wichita

Don Spreir, Larned, KS

-Dash finish was Davey Ross, Harold Leep,Buddy Coleman, and Forrest Coleman.. Tough field huh?"
