Might as well keep working on those cars guys, things are coming that you'll want to be a part of.

I cannot (wish I could) give out specifics right now, but lines of power are forming along I-35 , people are opening up relationships that will prove fruitful to us.

The main hot spots are from OkC to Waco, and I'm watching some very very interesting stuff happen. We will be getting more exposure, on larger stages than before. People will be noticing us more in writeups etc. Of course when I can, I'll be posting videos of anything you , or I , conjour up.

Here's the trick we need to overcome- we'll need 25-30 cars ready to display or roll. That could be now, or in a few years--but this thing is growing.

I ask any of you, please send me some video of your cars -in build form, or finished.

The crazy thing is, there is no plan, it's just happening. ALL WE GOTTA DO IS GET ALONG.

The central Oklahoma show is still slowly moving along, and there is an equal important show being talked about in a positive manner , in Tejas.

As for me, my next show is at Waco, Heart of Texas. It is a very important show I must attend.

Note to any promoters reading this- The next time you want to do a vintage race car deal, check around to see what dates might conflict--it will save you a lot of heartache in the future.

Move it on over big dog, the little dog's a comin' in.

I sincerely hate being a tease, but I told you what I could without getting myself in too deep. I do not want to harm anything that is forming for the positive right now.

I bet you Gordon Woolley will be right in the middle of the vintage show at Waco. He might even strap in one. It was that many years ago Gordon was driving a street stock on something with fenders on it. Be cool to name after Gordon.

Several years ago at a local WoO show I commented that Gordon should jump into one of the cars and show the guys how it's done. Ann was quick to remind me that Gordon is not driving anymore. Such nice folks!

I want a Gordon Woolley autograph! That's worth the trip right there.

What I have learned is Gordon was the real deal. I have a few clips of him doing his thing.

I can guarantee you this- take it to the bank

We bring color and promotion to a sport that desperately needs it right now. The world is slowly trying to close in and kill auto racing, and dirt track racing is at the top of the list I'm afraid. Changing trends with the fans, elected officials, even a few old fans are moving on and looking at dirt track racing as a sick old horse that needs to be shot.

I NEVER GOT ONE SINGLE REJECTION FROM A TRACK PROMOTER, but there were conflicts that made few shows not happen, and in some cases take a turn for the worst.

I did find that we have to have an agreement with ourselves before we approach the promoter. THE POWER IS IN NUMBERS, AND OF ONE ACCORD.

Divided in opinion so much that we have no power, track promoters will tend to sometimes take advantage of that and CHANGE THINGS AT THE LAST MINUTE. This causes a lot of problems.

and now, my confession about why I have been so reluctant to pursue any shows in the way I did before.--

I knew going into Ada last year would hurt my reputation. There were a few conflicts going on , and those kept me quiet and slow to respond on getting the fires stoked. When we got there, nothing had changed from the year before, I take responsibility for part of that, but only part of it. I WAS NOT HAPPY ABOUT THE TREATMENT WE GOT ON THE INFIELD, NOR ABOUT A FEW PEOPLE GETTING CHARGED TO GET INTO THE PITS WHEN THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO GET IN FREE (JAMES SKINNER AND HIS WIFE, AND MAYBE MORE).

I was determined to get the three cars I take care of there, and that took a lot of time just to make that happen too.

But then, while in the heat of the infield, with race cars going around and around , several classes in fact, things just turned sour. From there I puttered around the track, loaded up, tried to get my car over to the display area (they didn't leave us any room-none). At that point , I pondered and left before the sprint a feature took green. That just about broke my spirit to even bother anymore-- had it not been for a few good friends, I would have found a new hobby like I always do. But this is the hobby I Wanted the most...............so i'm still here. Dropping unnecessary grudges and moving on for what we do is what I have to do.

Now, speaking as a customer- here's what I want

1. Fun-- I refuse to pay money from my future, so that I can make enemies now. I dig, work in the dirt when I have to, and the last thing I need is more negative drama. When the right people are there, I find myself quietly praying for good longstanding health and prosperity for all my friends, to point even that almost makes me sad that some will not even be here 20 years from now. I like good honest people, and wish to be associated with those people.

2. Track time or display, I like both. I like it when the fans can see cars as they go into the stands, and when they are in the stands. It has occurred to me that BOTH DISPLAY ONLY AND TRACK ONLY, and those that do both, are incredibly important. You may not like display only cars, but those display only cars help insure that you get better treatment.

3. Communication- I like to know what's going to happen at some point, well before I actually go on the track. I do not like waiting for hours, and then having someone from the track staff speed up to me on a four wheeler, and tell me to be on the track in 5 minutes. I have done that, I will do it, BUT I DON'T FORGET WHEN IT HAPPENS OVER AND OVER.

4. Put my cohorts first-

Let's say there are 21 cars that show up, IF YOU ARE GIVING OUT FREE BAR BE QUE SANDWICHES, GIVE AS MANY AS YOU CAN TO THOSE PEOPLE THAT BROUGHT IN A VINTAGE RACE CAR. PUT ME AT THE BOTTOM OF THE LIST , TAKE CARE OF MY FRIENDS THAT HAVE COME ALL THE WAY FROM WHEREVER. Be neighborly to them, and if you are out by the time you get to me, I will gladly pick up a sandwich at the concession stand and pay for it. When they are in a good mood, everybody is usually. Nobody forgets an awesome good time with good people.

5. Flexibility- we all need it, and need to be.

I'll think of more later................

Brian, I have seen the vintage oval racing start to take hold in the Texas - Oklahoma region. I only purchased my father's car because I saw the growth on websites like this one. It will take a while to grow this hobby. East Coast clubs have been working on this for over 20 years. To keep the car count up we all need to communicate to insure we do not get overlapping events. This will reduce the car count. The only two VTOW firm dates that I am aware of are May 29th at Waco and June 25th at Kennedale. Please keep Drew Williams in the loop on any possible OK dates. I would like to make my way up north to visit your tracks. Dan Carlsen 98 Racing Fort Worth

Will do Dan. I really have been liking the incar videos you put up, and what you do in general for the hobby.

I picked up my Dad's car because some pretty blonde asked what it was. She was from Austin, and she thought it was cool. That was 20 years ago, and after taking it to Dallas last year I found they think it's cool too. I'm sure you get the same reaction.
