How are the car counts at the events everyone is attending.

The events I have seen have had very low car counts.

They reported up at Belleville that there were 105 cars, course that was a special event. I do think that the cost of travel hurts the count at most shows. I have talked to quite a few new guys wanting to build something to come and run. I guess we all should encourage them with advice, parts and encouragement, might help keep the car count up.

Car counts down here are so far stable. More cars are being built, yet it seems as if not fast enough.

First of all, I blame myself much of the time for all the shortcomings that have been found in anything that I had my name tied to. Yet, I operated under the idea that when someone said they would be bringing a car, I figured they would be bringing a car. At least maybe bring a car within three shows of the first one they promised to. Several times , more than should have been, those promises were not fullfilled.

This creates a quiet animosity, and while this goes on, it is hard to make the sale of the idea of any show to the next promoter/participants. Building and bringing in my own cars, and pushing a show without leftover finances, left me with little to work with.

Then there were the people who just HAD to jump in the middle and make uneducated comments influencing others to not even get involved with this group, or that group. That leads to a broken up car count and quite a few excellant cars staying home. Finished or not.

Seeing this, or sensing it, the pomoters scale down the effort of bringing more incentive into the fold, which in turn dulls the intention of the participants to be there.

Now then, my question is- Where are the key players? The ones who wish to eventually make a profit from this movement through selling parts and services? They have the most real influence, and are key to helping us group together. And we do need to agree well enough to get along, or the car counts and number of shows will continue to stagger along. Due to the expense involved(time and money), we need all the cars that could fit into the categories of what we do.

Display, and on track.

I,Brian Satterwhite, have not made a profit from any of this, nor am I under the idea that I will. I did it , and continue to do it because I love these old cars.

Put us all together intoa workable factor, we have much to offer to the promoter(he's a businessman), and to ourselves. Stay separate, and we are like fish in a barrel waiting to yanked on, one at a time.

Structure, unity, and goodwill.

For the Cowtown Speedway event on August 21st we have 23 cars registered. It will be the first event I will take my car to since I purchased it. I will be at Wichata Falls in October and any other event that sounds like fun. Next year my goal is to hit a few more events.

On a up note the Annual Hawkeye Futurity at Southern Iowa Speedway, all classes. will be Sept 17-19 at Oskaloosa, IA. Test and Tune Friday. Track time Saturday and Sunday. There will be a swap meet and lots of friendship. Camping available at the Fairgrounds. Don't miss all the fun.

We understand car counts are down a little all over but this will be one you won't want to miss.

Hope to see you there.

In my experience, to get my car ready for Bellville the tab was about $750.00 and the repairs when James got back cost me another $1100.00 and this was just one car.At Cowtown ,I will have 2 cars and at Wichita Falls I will bring my Walker Supermodified out for the first time (I hope). We were impressed with how smoothly the Bellville show was handled and will go back given the chance, but vintage racing is expensive,so we are going to be very selective where we go next year. For us in Texas it sounds like the Vintage Texas Openwheel  guys are going to make some things happen in 2011.
