Car counts down here are so far stable. More cars are being built, yet it seems as if not fast enough.
First of all, I blame myself much of the time for all the shortcomings that have been found in anything that I had my name tied to. Yet, I operated under the idea that when someone said they would be bringing a car, I figured they would be bringing a car. At least maybe bring a car within three shows of the first one they promised to. Several times , more than should have been, those promises were not fullfilled.
This creates a quiet animosity, and while this goes on, it is hard to make the sale of the idea of any show to the next promoter/participants. Building and bringing in my own cars, and pushing a show without leftover finances, left me with little to work with.
Then there were the people who just HAD to jump in the middle and make uneducated comments influencing others to not even get involved with this group, or that group. That leads to a broken up car count and quite a few excellant cars staying home. Finished or not.
Seeing this, or sensing it, the pomoters scale down the effort of bringing more incentive into the fold, which in turn dulls the intention of the participants to be there.
Now then, my question is- Where are the key players? The ones who wish to eventually make a profit from this movement through selling parts and services? They have the most real influence, and are key to helping us group together. And we do need to agree well enough to get along, or the car counts and number of shows will continue to stagger along. Due to the expense involved(time and money), we need all the cars that could fit into the categories of what we do.
Display, and on track.
I,Brian Satterwhite, have not made a profit from any of this, nor am I under the idea that I will. I did it , and continue to do it because I love these old cars.
Put us all together intoa workable factor, we have much to offer to the promoter(he's a businessman), and to ourselves. Stay separate, and we are like fish in a barrel waiting to yanked on, one at a time.
Structure, unity, and goodwill.
