I was at the race and having the luxary to watch the same video (alot better quality than youtube but better than nothing) all these years I wondere today what Shane's tires were like at the end of the race. Now I know.
I also thought half way through watching this on youtube about how Shane saved his tires and even towards the end looked to be too far behind to catch Ricey. That is what I liked about Deam Martin shooting this video, at points near the end he widened the camera to show where Ricey was and where Shane was behind him. You know the older guys (Shane, Kinser) raced so much winged and non winged they knew how to save tires and when to "go" so to speak.
People forget our veteran guys back in the 80's (Shane, Ewell, Maier, Giggot, Johnson, both Jennings) had all raced full time non-wing just a mere four years earlier (didn't wings first come about at OKC in '82?) but the Dodge City area kept the non wing thing even after that.
To my understanding USAC wasn't coming back no matter what in 1987, which I guess you could say they literally did take their ball and go home.
In due time through the winter I will give brian26 the 1984 and 1985 USAC/NCRA videos to post.

Beloit, Kansas racing

While watching the Beloit 1940s video, I was surprised to see a #10 car pulling on the racetrack in latter part of the video. It was built and owned buy my father Pat Woods and driven by Lee Green both of Beloit. Thank to whoever submitted it. Deen

This is the very reason that sticks in my mind the most, besides seeing the old race cars.
Maybe someday I'll get to see my Dad on the track on film.

That was most likely the last NCRA show at Tulsa Fairgrounds.

More on this later. Alan Leibl of Wichita Falls sent in some film that went well with some other clips of 1972 OkC. Just a few minutes on it right now.
This is a long term project as I want to get the right sound and maybe find some more clips to put with it.
