Johnny Anderson won the first prelim race for WOO in 1979, the next day Doug Wolfgang
won the 40 lap feature. March 24th-25.
Mike Peters in 1980 was 10th, in 1979 Jerry Stone just missed out finishing 11th.
In 1972 there were only 2 drivers that won NCRA races Harold Leep and Emmitt Hahn.
Junior Taft finished 2nd in 1968
Dale Reed was second in 1971 in the Isaac #6.
In 1978 Frank Lies had the most seconds with 9. After 1979 Emmitt Hahn tied him
after finishing second at Devils Bowl that year.
Not sure about two sets?
Mike Peters was the only driver I could come up with, didn't find him winning a 50 lapper
though in mods
great Quiz

The first WoO race at Tulsa was in 1979 but the first sprint race was in March 1977 and Rick Ferkel won
Mike Peters won a 50 lap Ncra race at Enid in 1975, the yearbook says it was 35 or 40

Ray,
Great first name by the way. I thought there was a race before the 1979 race, but
I wasn't sure if it was sanctioned. Was someone killed at that race? I remember
A bad wreck were a car kept flipping. Wasn't that race also non winged? I was at it I think,
I believe Chuck Amati almost ran over my dad in the pits.
Was the 1979 race the one were Ray Crawford drove the #721 car, I believe it was.
I have a picture of him in the car.
Mike Peters, what a career, what a guy!

Ray C you were there at that 77 race. I road down there with you and your dad. We stop at the Tonkawa Truck Stop and had breakfast on the way. It was the race Emmett Hahn ran the super with them. I found these photos taken on that day. It was a day race. I think it was two day show and they ran Saturday night. We just went to the Sunday race. Might have been the only day race on the BIG half mile.

Emmett Hahn March of 1977 at a outlaw sprint car race at Tulsa Fairgrounds Speedway. This was not a WoO race, just outlaw type race.

In this photo from Tulsa in 77. left to right. Bobby Marshall 19, ?, ? Ralph Parkinson Jr 65; front inside?, front car inside back Rick Ferkel 0 One of those black cars was from Iowa I believe.

Tommy Thomas flipped in the 79 WoO going into turn 3. He was not injured but would later be killed in a race. Steve Kinser I think also flipped in 1 & 2 in the same race. It was winged. Some of my sprints in the 70's sprint cars section was taken at this race. Ron Shuman and #75 and The Tulsa Worm Farm sponsorship was on the car. Nance had a Ohioian driving his car that night.
75 to 80 was my claim to fame and the supers and the sprints. After that it was not until the late 80's when I started going to a few races again. Then I got to go to tracks like Millstream, Eldora, Terre Haute and anywhere I could catch a race on any given weekend.

I have noticed in the last ten years a lot of viewers spell Hahns name, Emmitt, I'm pretty sure it spelled Emmett. Is there some kind of JOKE behind Emmitt.

I looked in my NCRA yearbook and the modifieds ran several different length races. In 1975 Devils Bowl was 40 laps, Tulsa 30 laps, Wichita Falls 40, 81 had one 25 laps and one 35 laps. and Enid 50 laps. The Enid race was a modified only so that mightt be why they were 50 laps. In 1973 they were all 50 laps.
Emmitt's real name is "Elmer T" Hahn
Mike Peters first name is "Terry" He drove the Forshee sprint car at the 77 Tulsa race. He had a wreck on Saturday night and did not race on Sunday, That is the race where he told me that that kid standing over there is going to be a great driver and I asked "who is he" Mike answered "Sammy Swindell"
In the 79 WoO race Steve Kinser blew an engine and caught on fire and had to go to the burn center at Hillcrest Hospital, in 81 he had the highest flip down the back straight into turn 3 that i have ever seen. a picture if it was in Open Wheel
Here is a trivia question: what car did Steve Kinser drive the next night in KC in 1981 after the Tulsa race and what is different about that race for Steve?

Warren,
I see these pictures are from the grandstand, didn't we go to the pits for hot laps?
I remember my dad playing matador and bull with Chuck Amati at one of those races.
He was driving the black 21 or 121.

Ray,
I remember WOO race at Lakeside that year where Steve Kinser and Doug Wolfgang
finished in a dead heat. Is that the race your talking about? I'm guessing he wasn't in Karl
Kinsers car. I know The Wolf was in Doug Howell's #4 at that race.

Warren,
I remember you eating cheeseburgers at the races. It seemed to me, we were always getting one.
I also remember that it got pretty chilly at some of those races we went to early in the year,
and late in the year, especially the Enid Nationals.

I don' think the race was at Lakeside it was in MO. Steve drove the Stanton car that Al Unser JR drove at Tulsa the night before. Steve did not make the feature that night in the Stanton car. I think that was the first time he did not make the feature. The Sunday night race at Tulsa was the last time that Little Al drove a sprint car. The Stanton car had a big block in and was not handling very well we were watching Little Al and man he put a show on but did not do very well

That one weekend at the final Tulsa race and then the next day at Enid for the stock cars. We still haven't thawed out. I think it was 76.

The black car on the inside of the track, leading this pack, is the #49 car owned by Dick Morris from Iowa. Ralph Blackett appears to be the driver.
There are some pics posted from the '79 race posted here:
