What really needs to happen is all drivers need to park on Sheridan Rd. and let the fans know that they will not be racing until there are some changes as they are pulling in the parking lot. My dad said they did this back when he was racing and Lanny came to the road and asked what they wanted and what he needed to do. Races were very good for a few years after that.
I for one am not going back out there until something changes. I ran 5 of the first 7 nights and have not been back since and will not run there next year. I also know of at least 2 other cars that will not come back next year.
This post may get me a permanent vacation from there but right now I really dont care and actually may be better if it does happen.

Oh yeah, they did do that, but it was before my time hehe, and my dad told me about it too. Problem is, I don't really know if it would work nowdays. Back then Lawton was Lanny's baby. It's what made him what he is today. Pretty sad to let something that made you go to such a waste. Now he has Devils & SFS not to mention money in his pocket, that I'm not sure if he would care if the drivers sat out on the road. I'm sure if it happened at all 3 tracks, then it would get his attention, but just at 1 I'm not sure. Then again a little bee did buzz in my ear, that Lanny has been complaining about not making any money this year because of all the rainouts. I guess the only way to know for sure is to do it, and hope Lanny is actually there to negotiate with.
Car counts are nowhere near what they used to be. I too remember running B features in all classes, and the A main would have at least a good solid 20 cars. Not to mention you used to have to get to the track about an hour early to get your usual seat.
How I miss the excitement!

Well the 100 car nights was before I was in the area, last year I was up in Fort Wainwright, Alaska. I was going off what I seen this year. Yes the car counts seem low compared to elsewhere I've been, but it's the average that I was referring to from what I've seen this year.
Chris Hilliard I understand what you're saying, but that was my whole point. It's easy to type it here on the forum, but until people actually do what they are typing, it's just going to be a weekly deal on how aggravated people are with Lawton Officials and Lanny Edwards. I pretty much ment, if it's that bad, do what you say and see if it makes a difference. Maybe it will, maybe it won't.
I'm just trying to get seat time this year, so it's not really been an ordeal that is aggravating to me. heck I love to race, I do it for fun and trying to win a trophy or 2. I'm ticled as a hog in schit to have a track 15 minutes from the house that keeps my pulling cost at a low, and i can go have fun.
I wish you all the best in trying to prove the points you're trying to prove, but until the typing becomes an action, we'll never know.
BTW, do people really get permanent vacations from there for typing their opinions?

Fun is what it's all about to most of the drivers. There a few that lost track of that aspect of racing. Lawton is a great track, they just have some management issues that do need straightened out. Once the issues get resolved, I think it will pick back up. Yes, in order to do this, action needs to be taken instead of words posted on a forum. It will take the drivers who love the sport to stand up and fight to save their tracks that they love. I wish you all the best in the battle!
Lawton is also a great place to get seat time. Most of the drivers there understand how it is and have been there themselves. Many are more than willing to help a fellow driver. Good luck and have fun!

It would be nice to think things will change at all three tracks, but folks don't bet the farm on it. Transponders would solve the problem of who finished where without favoritism factoring in. From what I can tell at one track, the cars have a harder time lining up with the radios then when they weren't used. Don't get me wrong radios serve a useful purpose when the officials KNOW how to communicate with the drivers. At every track there are always drivers who get in their cars too late, get pushed off too late and slow everything down. One thing I can say for sanctioned shows, there isn't much BS and you either get on the track or miss the green flag and officials aren't afraid to use the black flag or the blue and yellow flag.
Racing is fun and should be without crap. It isn't like it used to be and probably won't be unless we all pull our pennies together, build our own tracks, develop good rules and enforce them. Maybe the folks near Winstar Casino will donate some land, making it easy for Oklahoma and Texas drivers to find a track of equal distance. I better stop, I think I'm stepping into fantasy land.

To answer your questions about permanent vacations yes it did happen..........they told PushTruck Matt (well thats his hosehead name anyway) not to come back. ANd he didn't even really say anything that bad.........just that it was unfortunate how bad the tracks were and the cars it tore up. He even said it was mostly due to rain. Here was a guy being nice about crap no one should have been and helpin the show by pushin cars off............you get the idea. I guess they frown on folks who aren't "yes men" if you catch my drift.
When anyone gets to wanderin why its gotten as far as it has......its fairly obvious. because he can. But who knows? maybe one day he won;t have all the New Year's money and he will have to go back to being a Good/REAL Promoter. it would seem he did somthin right for a long time ........ whatever that was he needs to go back to it. He did such a good job that he was elected into the Sprint Car HoF...........so we know he is capable. He just needs to care enough to do it. And that may be the problem...........every track has bad calls, bad race surfaces, or just bad nights in general. But it has been saying a lot for him that on top of it all he just treats people like dirt. His promoting career ain;t over and if his tracks keep declining and instead of fixing his own problems he sells the little bit that is left.........he will need to be taken OUT of that Hall of Fame. I hope Lanny Edwards......at some point in the near future.......quits thinkin that everybody is against him and hates him. People are frustrated with things we have all been mentioning in this thread.........it's no conspiracy. I don't think anyone really has a personal grudge against Lanny Edwards. But I want to see all those good promoting moves that got him into the Hall of Fame. I want to see it. I'm tired of hearing of bad calls and disrespect. I want to hear good things about him. And we obviously know people in his camp read some of this.......so let the guy know.......GET IT DONE! Be a good promoter so everyone (fans, drivers, track workers) can leave the track - for the most part - happy campers. get it done man. And if it makes him feel any better. PLEASE........with sugar on top.
funny thing is, I'm not really meaning all of this negatively. I'm tired of us even having somthin to talk about with this guy. It's not the public forum or the posts that are so negative. There is never any smoke without fire. Yeah there will always be some that are mad or what not. But its obvious there is a general consensus of people very unhappy and thats where a public racing forum is good.....not bad. Better people voice their concerns and try to get the chip off their shoulder than just quit going. I just want to see things get better. its not right for fans who have supported a race track for so long to watch it die slowly.......and I can only imagine its what many Lawton fans are probably feeling. And even more so I don't want to see it happen at OKC. It ain't right..............
There are good race fans and good race car drivers all throughout this OKC and Lawton area.......we just need a good promoter to put it all together proper. Hopefully Lanny can get back to being that guy..............but if not...................................................................

Last night was an exciting event. However, we all need to remember that Ezell didn't ask for the black flag to be thrown. Be mad at the officials..fine but getting on here and bashing some kid because the officials threw the flag is wrong. Sellars gets crap because he always wins and Ezell gets crap because he is Lanny's grandson. Lanny's grandson was also given a black flag this season because he came in under the green light. OK enough of the ranting! It's Friday night!!! Soon to have something else to rant about....I'm sure LOL. I'm still planning on making the drive up tonight. Someone refresh my memory....where's the best place to sit? Last time I was up there, we evidently sat in the wrong area, as we were surrounded by a bunch of freaky drunks who kept screaming and yelling all around us arguing with each other. Felt like we were right in the middle fo a big brawl just waiting to happen. Don't want no part of that crap again...especially with my kids.

My family sits at the bottom to the right of the grandstands, about 15 yards from the caution light. They've never had any problems there, just look for the Eddie Matin T-shirt my wife will be wearing if ya wanna sit in that area.
As for Ranting, Man I gotta fix my trailing arm!!!!

Thanks! I know I've been warned in the past about the little hoochie mama's that walk around with their butts showing trying to impress the guys. I don't feel like trying to explain to a very observant 6 year old why they have their butts and then some showing LOL. Not to mention the fact that my 2 year old will probably think it's funny and will pull his pants down...LOL...I don't kow if he would do that, but I don't want to find out.
