I'm actually glad she is starting up front in the Nationwide race.

Again - Spotlight isn't on Danica at the moment it's on me. Yay for me :-)! Nothing any of you has to say about me makes any difference to me but if it makes you feel better......well.....glad I could help :-).

threadkiller: same something like that about Schatz and you'll get compliments up the ying yang. I also think Danica is nothing more than a t-shirt salesman. On road and street courses in the IRL last year she finished as one of the last 3 or 4 place cars. Always the same. On ovals, the other half of their races, she did fair, averaging a 10th to 12th position thanks to being in one of the top cars while the bottom 1/2 cars have only a shoestring budget.
Last year in the Nationwide series, she could only stay in front of the back low-budget 20 cars, the cars with once again, no speed and no money. And this in one of the top 4 or 5 cars in the series. Yes, she won an IRL race, she and two other backmarkers stayed out when everyone else pitted for gas in Japan. Hoping and praying, she got what she needed, enuf yellow laps to keep her a lap in front of the field, but she did beat off those other two backmarker cars.
She'll do OK on the plate races: the drivers don't dare say it anymore for as they've been given the "don't say those things about plate racing rules". We all know it is not racing. It is a pack of cars traveling the same speed, even low budget cars can stay with top cars like Danica's. Like M. Waltrip said, "just hold the pedal to the floor and try to stay off other cars".
PS I don't wish anyone injury in any race and I'm sure threadkiller is the same. Don't get your shorts ruffled over nothing.
Lawlessness + liberalism = HELL - NYC, Detroit, Chicago,
Seattle, LA Who the H runs those cities.

Some might consider that a compliment and I have no idea what qualifications you have to make that assessment but for the most part I just don't give a crap what people who decide to make personal attacks on me think about me. Particularly when they have never met me. BTW dirtraceorbust nailed it. Thank you all for playing along...

Before ANYONE makes a ignorant, uncaring comment like
threadkillllllller has here I would tell them this. Unless you have sat your ass in a race car & experienced all that can happen inside them (crashes included) you need to SHUT UP. As Lincoln once said, "Better to remain silent & be thought a fool than to open your mouth & remove all doubt."

I'm sorry I didn't mean for that to be a "personal attack, it was just a observation, and if you think it was a compliment, I'm thrilled for ya killer.
Look, you like saying dick head things to see what kind of response you'll get, and that's very much like the kid who lives next door to me. The big difference is, he's a kid and you're not. The other difference is he cares what people think, and will grow out of it.
Having fun yet killer?

That is a pretty bold statement considering you started out this thread with a personal attack on someone you have never met.

There is no true race fan that would ever "wish a driver would crash" I would never spend a dime of my money on a Nascar race but to make that statement is as dumb as any thing that has ever been posted.

Grady you have always been a inspiration for me and as you know, that's not always a good thing..LOL Are you going to the Classic? I'm thinking about going, I haven't seen a modified sprinter since the Western, and there's nothing else going on anyway.

I don't consider what you said a personal attack. I was referring to what others had said. Yours is more like an intelligent observation and I do respect that.

Truth is I'm full of more crap than a 50 year old outhouse, and as far as my intelligent go's that's debatable to some, and non existent to more than a few.

I wasn't speaking from your point of view.
I was speaking from hers.
I am sure she could care less what someone she hasn't ever met cares about her. Especially one who throws personal attacks from a keyboard.

Although not a Danica fan or like the way she is preceived, she can drive a race car. I dare anyone who wrote above to get into a car and do what she's done. She has to have some talent, not only good looks. Give her a chance to see what she does before you crucify her.

Danica reminds me of many of the high flying DotCOM era companies whose value existed primarily because of the HYPE they created and the many that bought in on it. HYPE does NOT equal SUBSTANCE. MOST intelligent people know this by now. I was there during that era and worked for some of those companies and I often felt like the sober man in the room. "This isn't going to last" I thought. Danica is all HYPE people! Many very intelligent people see that and most of which are far more intelligent than those who take the time to post on here. I had a very high opinion of Tony Stewart and always thought of him as a BAD ASS who could drive any race car to success. Well Smoke: I'm disappointed in you. You've bought into the hype and I don't care what the reason is but it's not a good statement of who I always thought you were. One way or another the air will be let out of the Danica balloon sooner or later one way or another. Will I applaud when it happens? No. Will I say "I told you so"? No. Will I shed any tears like I did when we lost a real racer by the name of Dan Weldon? Hellllll NO!

Who has ever argued on here that Danica is some kind of awesome or amazing racer? I don't think I have ever read a single post saying that on here. But NASCAR has not been about the 43 best and greatest drivers in a long time, maybe never.
But it just seems incredibly far fetched that so many people miss the point of why she is out there or how she got a fulltime Nationwide ride and part time Cup deal. She has those rides because she generates more coverage in one race than short track racers like Dave Blaney and David Reutimann would generate in 10 lifetimes.
Buzz Rightrear pretty much nailed it when he wrote on here weeks ago that obsessing over her every race and writing post after post after post just fuels the marketing hype and shows why she is in that ride. There has been more talk about Danica on here than every other driver racing at Daytona this year put togther, and people really wonder why she is in that ride? This whole notion of trying to "prove" that she is overhyped and doesn't deserve the coverage she gets by starting a thread about her and getting worked up about her results doesn't really seem to support that argument.

So shut the hell up and read between the lines first people!
Yes most of us know all that and I stated earlier in this thread that he likes to say dick head things to see what kind of reaction he'll get on this forum. So now you show up and tell everyone who reacted to it in a way that he expected to shut the hell up, because they just don't understand? So from now on we can't take a damn thing the killer say's seriously unless maybe we have you to interpret it for us?
By the way, do you really think it's impressive that you told someone that Danica is not all that? Now if you had told her that to her face I'd be impressed, otherwise "shut the hell up".
Kenny

When Tony jumps back in a non wing sprinter on a true 1/2 mile again (not Eldora), I'll call him a BAD ASS. Until then he'll always be lacking in my opinion, and it will never happen, never!

I agree that Danica is the most over hyped driver in the history in racing. She does have talent, ambition, and of course looks. But the only race she won in Indy Cars was in Japan, AND she wouldn't have won it had Penske been able to figure fuel mileage. That said, there will be a lot more people watching Daytona tomorrow just for the simple reason she's in the race. Also...to the moron that wishes she would crash, you have problems no one here can solve.
