These supers always looked different than the rest. The hood looked so long. Were they the same car? What type of car were they? The top one was 1976. I think the bottom one was 78. I'm not sure about the middle one, It might have been 78 also or 79. Were any of these cars the 73, 74 versions of The Stienert #11 that Jim Harkness drove. I had two e-mails in the early years saying the middle one is still around but it is not the #11 that everybody knows about?

The black #1 was owned by Don Adams it was the Stienert #11 driven by Jim Harkness. It was sold to Danny Duvall of Tyrone OK. it was wrecked and cut up. The body panels were saved and are now hanging in a race shop in Dodge City, Ks. The 07 car was built in Western Ks. it was sold to Moe Richardson of Liberal and raced as the 0 car by his son, I owned this car for a while, than sold it to a guy in Joplin, Mo.

End of wild rumor I was told that the original Steinert #11 was still around.
Was the #77 any of the above cars like 07 or 11.

I think the 06 that Gary Pletcher drove was probably the 07 also? I think Gary only ran one season in the supers. He also drove some in the late models. He was from Sharon Springs, KS I believe. I was a fan and went to a lot of races, but wasn't much for hob nobbing in the pits. So the mechanics etc. I was not up to speed on that. Anyways I have probably forgotten any of the info anyway.

Scanned back 2000 sometime

Same photo rescanned in 2011. This time it is not blown up. When I first started building the site I thought they needed to be blown up.
I have got the photo albums out and looking back. I just answered one of my earlier questions. The #77 cannot be the #06 and is probably not the #07. The 77 and 06 was in fair races in Hutch in 78.

The 77 car was owned by Dan Lacey of Hays, Kansas, and driven by Larry Radcliffe of Hill City,Ks. Dan told me that he bought it from the Jim Harkness family following the death of Jim. He said that the car was built so light that they had to have a new cage built . The 07 was driven by Dave Frusher with Kenny Hacker as the mechanic. I believe the 58 in the middle picture was Duane Cain, and the 75 was John Beeson of Scott City.

Didn't Dan own a few or a Pizza Inn in and around Kansas and Hays area? You are correct on the 58 & 75. Thanks for refreshing my memory. If I'm right Jim was building that car during the winter.

I don't think Dan owned any pizza joints, but he was good friends with Buck Parks who was part owner of the Coachman's Inn, and I think owned interest in some pizza places. I'm pretty sure you're right about Jim building that car during the winter. Was wondering who did the welding on Jim's cars ?

Some of the prettiest and most competive supers came from tiny Ness County ,Kansas. Harkness, Hembree, Uheling, Frusher and Jon Johnson all drove nice and competive cars. Don't think there were over 2000 people in the whole county.

Which legend crashed the #11 at Liberal during an exhibition race? Was it Davey Ross or Larry Dewell? Was this the original Steinert #11? I believe Roy Bryant crash the current #11 at Norton?

Chuck Comer I believe is his name? I have heard he has enough cars for several feature races. Don't believe they are all complete though. I'm pretty sure he is a lurker on this site.
