We need to think about what we're going to do next year. Last 2 years have been very dramatic for me, and it seems like every time I put something together, it's a near disaster.
I have 2 cars I want to run, I know of projects still in the works. If we quit, those projects come to a near halt.
So the question is, -what do you guys want to do? I want to run somewhere, "and have fun".

Bryan,
I now have the former Deen Woods #11 super here in Houston and like David and James, I plan on doing the Wichita Falls get togethers, the Wichita, Ks. show in Oct and maybe a couple of other KARS shows, and some of the Texas Open Wheel events if finances hold out.

We the Mississippi Valley Vintage Race Car Associtaion would welcome you all to come enjoy lots of track time for 3 days in September at Oskaloosa Iowa. We have a few drivers come from Kansas and they all say its worth the drive. Hope to see you at Osky.

The promotor of Heart of Texas Speedway in Waco has invited VTOW and ANYONE else who would like to attend on May 29th, Memorial Day. They will be having the introduction to the Wall Of Fame and SST sprint cars. The promotor asked to tell everyone interested to PLEASE come and have a great time. Track time will be available. When time gets closer, we can post more information. 3 other Texas tracks have shown interest as well. More info to come.

My new years resolution is to at least get the bodies painted on the supers here. No shop, so going down to the frame is out of the question. I like mine ready to go.
Trammell in OkC -as far as I know, he'll be wanting to run somewhere.
Allen Crawford is still working on his car.
There's a car in Lindsey, OK that just got an engine, he'd like to make it out this year.
And there is a very special project in OkC, I'm not sure I can talk about right now.

I'd like to see a show at Enid, and Lawton. The best I could do is show up.
Losing the track at OkC has halted any plans to have a show there for now.
Are they going to Cowtown again next year?

If any of you track promoters are out there looking-
1. Do yourself, and us a favor and please do not send us to an infield without communication, bathrooms, ......well, just keep us out of the infield. After Ada, that is a sore subject . (Ada, if you guys are looking, call these other guys this year, don't call me).
2. At least two sets of laps on the track. Less than that, blows the point.
I really wish I could have made it work the way I was trying to do it, but , well.....excuses, excuses.....

Brian let me know where and when to show up and I will be there if nothing comes up with our business bookings. I have a new fuel pump installed and ready to run. The last part of Sept. I had my right knee replaced, just in the past couple of weeks I have been able to start working in the shop. It is amazing how those shop projects can help heal the spirits. To all a HAPPY NEW YEAR and LET'S RACE.

For you guys down there, the Bill Hall Memorial has no date set lack of cars last two years. Belleville Vintage Nationals was a one off deal for the 100 year old race track. Kansas Antique Racers has 6 to 8 shows a year. There is a two day show at Norton Ks. on Labor day weekend, on the big half mile. The shows up in Iowa are worth the haul both Osky & Knoxville are on the big half miles. Dwane

Brian: Baggley was looking for cars to put on a show last year at Enid, he did not contact the KAR. If there were some notice as to when it would take place it would help. I am building a Wichita Falls car I would like to come down to Lawton or Wichita Falls. Planing on the Wichita Fall Reunion this fall. Dwane

Enid could bridge the gap for us to Kansas. I have heard a rumor that there is a new promoter there, is that true?

I'll drop it in here, not sure that I'm supposed to, but what the hey.
This car is getting cloned. Right now an actual frame is being copied to paper, and the right people are on it. If we keep the buzz going, more cars will be getting built. They're doing it anyway.

This is the Pete Elkins car out of Amarillo, all of the bumpers, nerf bars and radius rods are original equipment along with the white body panels and hood. The car was heavily chromed originally and I had everything re-chromed,under the hood is a race prepped 327 and a powerglide.I did takeout the power assist steering substituted a Schroeder manual steering gear.It will be finished in a red, white and blue scheme and will carry the number 65.it will mirror the car driven by James Skinner in 1977 and he will again be driving it in 2011,

Was the above car James Skinner's car before or after Pete had it?

Pete Elkins (Amarillo)originally had the car it was sold to James Vergawen (I know I didn't spell that right)in Wichita Falls,James Skinner drove the car 3 or 4 times while it was in WF .The car was eventually sold to Red Bennett who drove it a few times in the mid 80's,but by then it was not a competetive car so it was parked in the barn for several years after Red died ,Harold Lindsey bought the car and I ended up with it on a trade. This car had a relatively easy life because of its condition when I bought it was near perfect .
