I always loved the post years ago with pictures of the Nationals cars paint schemes. So cool to see what the teams come up with.

Let's see what ya got.

I saw the Shark racing throwbacks.  Woof.  I am officially on record as against throwback paint schemes now. These hot rods look so good all the time...the need to keep trying to hit it out of the park with a Nationals fashion show is no longer cool IMO.  To each their own, but I'm looking at this like runway type high fashion...its weird and not something I need to see anymore.

This was typically one of my favorite annual posts and hadn't really thought about doing it this year, but given the abundance of schemes, well, buckle up and let's do it.

Trying to as closely follow unveiling order as best I can, and it's quite possible that I might miss one or two. Also going to downsize some of the photos, which may lower the detail, but I find it breaks the forum formatting quite a bit, especially for those on mobile. These are mainly from Twitter, so if you want to view full size, you can either open the image itself in a new tab or go find the respective tweets. Hopefully the formatting stays close - the HH post editor can be a massive headache at times.

Some very sharp designs this year. Love this aspect of Knoxville - really adds to the special feel of the event.

Bobby Mincer - Mark Kinser Throwback

Photo credit: Dennis Gainey Racing Designs Twitter (@TEAMDGRD)

Sidenote: The attention to detail on this is insane. Check out the NOS Outlaw log on the bottom right of the facing wing panel - it's in the form of the Pennzoil WoO oval logo from that time. Additionally, the snub nose hood is just A+. I did some light searching for pics otherwise and it seems that Bobby has not typically ran this style hood from what I've seen this year.

Spencer Bayston/Sam McGhee Motorsports Invert

Photo Credit: Spencer Bayston Twitter (@SpencerBayston)

Sidenote: I'm a sucker for invert schemes and this one is awesome to me. Great touch using on the gold numbers. Extremely sharp and clean looking ride - might be near the top of my favorites.

Tim Kaeding/Jason Sides Racing - Slick 50 Throwback

Photo credit: Tim Kaeding Racing Twitter (@TKaedingRacing)

Sidenote: A nice 15-year anniversary throwback to Tim running the Slick 50 car in the National Sprint Tour's lone full season under Steve Kinser Racing banner. Good looking car.

Carson Macedo/JJR - Gold 41

Photo Credit: Jason Johnson Racing Twitter (@JJR41Updates)

Sidenote: I didn't realize it when I first saw it, but JJR later tweeted that this is in reference to Jason's iconic quote after winning the 2016 Nationals. For those that may not remember, here is that quote: "It was a golden opportunity and I needed to make the most of it, I know he wasn’t happy with me for crowding him, but shit I wanted to win!” Has a very cool memorial to Jason himself on what appears to be the top of the hood.

Shark Racing - Jacob Allen 1A/Logan Schuchart 1S

Photo credit: World of Outlaws Twitter (@WorldofOutlaws)

Sidenote: These are throwbacks to Shark Racing architect Bobby Allen's stunning 1990 Knoxville Nationals victory. Not my cup of tea personally, but they are very sharp cars.

Sheldon Haudenschild/Stenhouse Jr.-Marshall Racing - Radioactive 17

Photo credit: World of Outlaws Twitter (@WorldofOutlaws)

Sidenote: A nice tip of the hat to Jac in his last year of competition, as Sheldon, NOS Energy and the SJM Racing team pay homage to the Jac's iconic 1999 Radioactive Scheme.

Cory Eliason/Rudeen Racing

Photo Credit: DB3 INC Twitter (@DB3INC)

Sidenote: Fantastic work as usual from Kevin Rudeen's camp and Fire-down Graphics. The 26 team has had consistently beautiful cars (both regular and Nationals schemes) for years, and the 2021 rendition is no different. Brent Anderson and the Fire-down crew really knocked this car out of the park - it's gorgeous and I think will look great on the track.

That's it for now - hopefully I haven't overlooked anyone. Really enjoyed doing this post again and sounds like there potentially could be some additions. Hope all you Hosers enjoyed!

Nice job SprintFan16! I like your side note comments to add more depth to what I have been seeing on Twitter.

Sheldon's is the only one i think is nicer than the regular.

Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

Many are gunning for the best throwback scheme, which is separate from the best appearing car contest they usually have.

Bayston and Eliason's cars look better than their regular cars in my opinion. I actually thought Sheldons was meh. To each their own. I do like the excitement of changing it up for a big race though. Something to look at and talk about.

Kramer Williamson's cars looked way better than that.

I actually like the Shark Racing throwbacks because they made it so close to the original by muting the current sponsor decals. But the light blue stripes on the side of the hood are spaced too far apart. Yes I am a prick about the details.

I think it was Steve Hardin who did the annual pit walk on the wed & thurs afternoons of the Nationals and posted every car up on here.

Those were my favorite posts of the year too!

I love this thread. Great pictures. I especially like the Bayston car and the Justin Peck car.

Please let me know if you can or can't see the pictures I posted. If you can't I'll delete my post to unclutter the thread.

What was the color of the oriniganl  Hop n Sack cars?    It wasn't a black car was it?    Or is this just a retro sponsor and not a retro paint scheme?

Some additions from Wednesday 8/11, starting with an actual photo of the Buch Motorsports/Justin Peck throwback to Kramer Williamson in the 73 (photo credit World of Outlaws Twitter - @WorldofOutlaws).

Mark Burch Motorsports/Don Droud Jr. - 1980 Bob Trostle throwback

Photo credit - Knoxville Raceway Twitter (@KnoxvilleRaces)

Sidenote: Don't know a lot about this as it is far before my time, but a nice looking mount for DDJ.

Swindell Speed Lab/Daryn Pittman - Titan Throwback

Photo credit: Swindell Speed Lab Twitter (@SwindellSpdLab)

Sidenotes: Really cool scheme here, throwing back to Daryn's time in the mid 2000s with Titan Racing USA and Australian Reeve Kruck. Also making the return onboard is one of Daryn's earlier sponsors - Hop N' Sack Convenience stores, who adorned the Donnie and Sherie Woodburn-owned entries that Pittman ran in his early years on the WoO tour.
