It's being reported by the Jackson County Pilot that one bid has been received for the speedway and commissioners could take action at their Feb. 17 meeting.

I hope Todd Quiring buys that track. Maybe he can turn that place around. The races I attended there last summer were crap. Used to be an excellent track years ago-now it's just another door slammer joint.

If it does get sold how will this affect weekly racing?

Jackson County Pilot reports today that county commissioners have approved the intended sale to Windom businessman Tod Quiring under a 5 year contract for deed for $500,000. Papers to be drawn up before their March 3 meeting. Quiring's bid was the only one submitted.

I wouldn't think much if any.  The Stock Cars and Modifieds pay out lower purses and bring a bunch of people with them.  I would guess they will still need that entry class revenue as do the vast majority of upper Midwest tracks.  Probably their legacy will be to build up the Sprint Car program but that will take time.

500 Grand contract for deed  to buy the Speedway is probably easy to cash flow . In the Febuary Flat Out mag Mr Ouiring's business was explained. Main Street Holdings has several brands under the hunting outdoor accessories line.

Big Game Treestands..Eyecon Trail Cameras.. Muddy Outdoors.. Xecute.. and API Outdoors

50 employed here and over 3000 in China according to the article.

Interesting to hear this fall going to shorten and widen the track (3/8 's) and add 6000 seats..

Thinking they sold to the right guy ...

I think the biggest thing holding dirt track racing back from being more successful is the facilities (or lack thereof) where the races are held. It's great to see a guy with some money planning to build up a facility that already has some potential.

Making the track a 3/8 should attract more cars i would think. The way it is now its almost always a freight train and a true motor eater. A wide highbanked shortened track would be the ticket to revive the racing there which in turn should draw more racecars. With all the facility improvements aswell that are planned this should be an awesome facility/track in the coming years. I for one, am super excited about all the things Tod is doing for sprint car in the midwest!

I think you guys would be amazed at how many parts, pieces, raw materials, accessories, components, and other important products are made in china that are involved in circle track racing. A person would really have to dig deep to proove that any race car on the track doesnt have something that is made in china on it. I am not saying I like that but "it is what it is"

I do not like it either, but do you realize how much American welders earn, especially those that work in the oil boom area in North Dakota and surrounding area?

I would have to agree with that statement We have only attended Jackson once , we have traveled the country  from higher end tracks to some pretty swampy places, none the less,  we like a sprint race regardless where it is, Jackson's track layout didnt seem to terrible to me, the Grandstands and  restrooms/concessions need huge attention, or like you said(lack there of) with the added dough and intrest in growing i would only assume the future is looking bright for Jackson on a plus note, It was proubly one of the cheapest places we have bought a beer at, and cold! hey thats a miricle sometimes with the amount of volume going out the window, anyway, good news to hear.

I don't think your talking about jackson mn speedway. The aluminum grandstands are in great shape and not that old. The concession stand and restrooms behind the track are also not that old. The restrooms on the west end could use a little help but no one hardly uses them, sometimes they aren't even unlocked.
