A move to Friday probably would be a good thing but for Sprint Cars only. A move to Friday would mean the loss of the IMCA sanction for the other classes as Spencer will be running Fridays starting this year and IMCA will not sanction tracks that close together. It may not mean anything to the Sprints only crowd but if you are going to run a premier class you have to have the under classes to help pay for the premier division. So, Jackson would need to keep some--maybe not all--of the IMCA classes.

I would have to agree with that statement We have only attended Jackson once , we have traveled the country  from higher end tracks to some pretty swampy places, none the less,  we like a sprint race regardless where it is, Jackson's track layout didnt seem to terrible to me, the Grandstands and  restrooms/concessions need huge attention, or like you said(lack there of) with the added dough and intrest in growing i would only assume the future is looking bright for Jackson on a plus note, It was proubly one of the cheapest places we have bought a beer at, and cold! hey thats a miricle sometimes with the amount of volume going out the window, anyway, good news to hear.

How long ago did you go to Jackson?  They replaced the old wooden grandstand and I believe the spiffed up the bathrooms and the concessions are updated.  I haven't been there for five years but it has always been one of my favorite tracks.  Traveling to races got put on the back burner when the wife started demanding that $2 of the family recreation budget should be spent on her non-racing interests for every $1 I spend on racing.  Her logic is that she won't go to races so I have to double what I spend on racing.  Smart woman, she pretty much pub me out of business after 16 years of reporting.  LOL

I would have to say that I agree with DirtDevil's opinion Stan.  For the first time since probably the late 80's, I went to the grandstand side of the races this year for the Jackson Nationals,  The grandstands are very nice but I was rather suprised and disapointed by the layout and quality of the infrastructure of all the other buildings.   A little concrete would go along way to help.

The buckets of ice cold beer did help tho!!!  lol

Next year, we will be back on the side that we belong on there and really looking forward to see Tod hopefully return the track to the prestige that it once held.   Smile
