Friday night at the Trophy Cup the announcer made an announcement SIMILAR to this.
"Tomorrow night Limaland is having their banquet. Randy was to receive $3,500 but because he won't be there they will NOT give him the money."
A couple of things come to mind.
First, why would ANY track have a banquet when the racing season is still going on?
Also, why would they withhold money from a driver because he wanted to race in a very important race such as the Trophy Cup? This race is approaching $1M in donations to the Make A Wish Foundation.
If these things are true I think it speaks very poorly of those who operate Limaland.
thanx,
leon

Randy was not the only Limaland points guy at TC this year. Shawn Dancer was also in the points. So is he not getting his points either? Curious as to why they would announce Randy's woes? Sounds like he was crying about it and they decided to announce it. Also, I would think the $$ would go to the car owner, not Randy.

Limaland isn't the only place this happens. Many tracks and series won't pay points found money unless you attend their banquet. Of course that usually means buying tickets to that event as well which can end up costing you more than you are due to be paid if you take anyone with you. I think it stinks but I'm not sure there's anything you can do about it. They can make whatever rules they want. It's happened to us before. It wasn't that much money but even a couple hundred bucks is money that was earned on the track that we didn't get.

Well, there is something I can do as a fan - not attend races at Limaland. Randy Hannagan is truely one of the nice guys in racing. The fact that Limaland is screwing him over a stupid banquet nobody cares about is BS. If I were Randy's car owner, Dennis Yokam, I wouldn't race my cars there anymore. The 360 division at Limalnd is dying anyhow.
Give Randy the money he earned Limaland!

Never heard of that anywhere. Have heard you don't get parts, etc but you earned the money. Take this place off my list as a track to attend.

He knew the rules at the start of the year. If you don't go to the banquet you don't get the money.
I don't understand why a race track would do this, but if everyone knew these were the rules I don't see
the problem.

Yeah I work all year for a paycheck, not able to go and pick up my paycheck on the one day of the year I want to make $ somewhere else, and my boss has the right to withhold my check for the whole year. KINDA or is Bull$hit.
Pay the drivers who earned there paycheck.
Or another analogy, if you do not go to the christmas party, you do not get your yearly bonus. They sounds fair
Limaland sucks

Agree, but I'll put a scenario out there where I'm sure they'd pay the driver and owner.
Driver gets hurt in the final race of the season (or after the season) and is hospitalized or on bed rest and cannot attend. Owner is the same person or owner did during the season (it's happened).
Do they pay them or tell them, no you have to be here?
IMO, the track(s) should pay out point fund $$ whether you attend or not, but make sure you have PRIZES that make it worthwhile for guys to attend (Chassis, heads, wheels, tires, etc., etc.).
Same goes for a guy that races locally and holds a regular job. His regular job schedules overtime for him to work Saturday Night (same night as banquet). Does he get paid or does he RISK HIS JOB by calling in sick to make sure he gets his point fund check (of $3500 let's say). If the guy gets fired for calling in sick, was it worth the $$$?
I sort of understand where the track is coming from, but instead of paying out all point fund $$$ in cash, use 1/2 of it for prizes for those in attendance and it will drive attendance to the banquet. What if it were someone like Ian Madsen, Brooke Tatnell or another from out of the Country. Do they not pay them for following the rules of their work visa and returning to their home across the pond?

I'm sorry but I don't think a point fund should be, in any possible way, tied to attending a banquet. As my late grand pa would say, "That's plain old horse pucky!"

Sounds like a great topic for Winged Nation.
I think this is crap, pay the driver/owner their money (both Randy Hannagan & Shawn Dancer). If not, I would race somewhere else next year.

perhaps he wanted to show just how much the 'Trophy Cup' and 'Make a Wish' means to him.

There were guys like Steve Suever, Jimmie Johnston that would not race there that much back in the day. E-Mods & Stocks used to have 2 b-mains, they hardly get enough for a b main now & the stocks will be lucky if they get enough for a full field for an a main. Alsways have heard that they have pissed racers off out there but never heard why.

First thing I would like to comment on is who the hell schedules a banquet during race season!!!!!!!!!! Makes no sence to me. All the other tracks have their banquet in November thru January. Second, every driver out there works as a private contractor, and as a contractor you expect to get paid what you have coming to you, Not getting paid is the same as stealing in my opinion. Third, You and your team supports a track all season to race and entertain the crowd, after all thats what they came there for. Fourth,You sacrofice every weekend to race for points and then they dont pay you, What a slap in the face. SHAME ON YOU LIMALAND, neither Shawn or Randy deserve that. I think Wing Nation and all major Racing sites and magazines should comment on this issue to help protect the racers from future acts as this one...............................

As president of the FAST Series, I wanted to weigh in here. We also have a rule in place (since 2009) that you MUST attend the banquet to get your point fund check. Why? Because the FAST organization encourages fans to attend the banquet as a year- end celebration of the season and makes an attempt to bring fans and drivers together to create a little bit of a relationship between fans/drivers and make a positive impact on the sport in this area. Now, that being said, our rule was put into place because if FANS are coming to the banquet to see Craig Mintz accept his championship trophy and collect his paycheck, then Craig Mintz better show up. Nobody wants to see Craig's cousin Leroy come up on stage and accept the award in his place. So we made it a rule. Now...we also announce this rule along with the date of the banquet in the Spring, and we also allow the drivers to notify us of any reason why they are not able to attend prior to the final event of the season. We've had drivers get married, compete in other races out of state, etc who have notified us they will not be able to attend and they were paid...in full. We have also had drivers NOT notify us in advance of the final race and two missed out on checks last season. One went on a trip out of town, the other just decided he didn't want to come and was sitting at his shop 2 miles from the banquet hall. Bottom line is, rules are rules. If the driver is aware of the rule there is no excuse. I can't speak for Limaland about the Hannagan deal, but wanted to shed some light on this topic in general. For the record, nobody has notified us this season that they will not attend. However, TJ Michael (young rookie 305 driver) lives in Texas and will not be expected to fly in for his check. We will mail it to him. All other drivers are expected to attend or their point fund money will be forfeited. We don't ask the drivers to do anything to go out of their way all season long except to come and pick up their check at the banquet. If that's too much to ask, then we'll hold onto it.

That is so thoughtful of you and the FAST series swamp.
You do this to get the fans and drivers together? So I am SURE you let them attend for free....right?
This is the exact kind of bullsh!t I would expect from you swampy, don't try to sugarcoat it.

So let me ask you when your banquet is. I bet its not in October. It's in November right. Why is it that everyone elses banquet is in November December or January. The Limaland banquet used to be later but that dosnt fit their schedule, and I am told their schedule is the only one that counts. It looks like the F A S T series takes care of the people who support them and i commend you for that, way to go F A S T series.
