For the Chico/Sac teams, the Reno dive is less miles than Tulare/Kings/Santa Maria..... and a bigger payout.
The downside to all the Nevada races is the NorCal fans lose out on some 410 racin close to home..... however when KWS is in town for your tracks only date, it's now a can't miss show.

Yeah, but you don't have to pull a trailer over a 7,000 foot pass to get to Tulare!!
I LEARNED ESP FROM MY MOM
"PUT YOUR SWEATER ON: DON'T YOU THINK I KNOW WHEN
YOU'RE COLD?"

It is what you make of it. Just remember, we're priviledged to have 410 racing on a regular basis on the West coast, some places WISH they had what we have.........Make the best of it and enjoy it while you can!

Yes, but you get to drive down it to. After 25+ years driving for a living, I'll take the short drive to NV. from Sac. I just hope they can keep the track(s) from getting to dry slick and I hope I can keep the wife off the slots. LOL

High desert is a tough place to ever hold any moisture, plain and simple. I don't care what amount of work they put into the place and what material they have, it ain't gonna be pretty.

Both nevada tracks have loads of potential it only takes gobs of money and work to bring it off. Dad decides when we go to the races but mom decides if we ever go back. The days of porta potties and greasey burgers out of a taco truck are long over. fans won't sit for a dusty, dry slick parade. If Simpson makes both places fan friendly, with the additional payout for racers this nevada swing could be good for KWS and sprint car racing.
If he;s going to produce races to new fans that are horrible, It will damage the brand for all of us and they are going to think thats what the whole thing is. When your business plan is sniping rodders from hot august nites and air race fans from reno it COULD be genius. It could also be a disaster if the improvements are just more Simpson hype...paul

I will have to rent a summer cabin in Tahoe one of the Reno weekends. We could have a big Lake Tahoe party. I'll give it a try mid summer.

There wasn't an empty seat at MRP when KWS was there, so something must be working.

I'm not denying that Fudd - MRP is not on the KOTW series schedule this year. Paul decided not to buy with they were selling this year is what I take out of that.

Yeah, Paul decided not to go with a series that turned his grandstands into a sardine can, and I was trying to illustrate that it seems like an odd decision to me. It's his place, he can do whatever he wants to with it, and I think he's been doing great, but it just seemed like it was a success for MRP, even if it came at an expense.

My 2 cents don't matter however, Look at the facts that you won't get
in CA. the race won't be stopped for time. my biggest thing is that the
noise restrictions....you'll actually hear what a sprint car sounds
like outside of CA.. The Last thing Sprint Car fans should be Known for
is whining on a forum board go watch the race or don't its as simple as
that. BESIDES THE TITLE OF THE SERIES SAYS: KING OF THE WEST not KING OF CA.

I'm wondering if sold out stands equaled a huge payday last year? Paul has already said KWS added $2,000 to their price to promoters for their shows. Sounds like some were willing to take the gamble while others weren't. Packed stands don't mean packed wallet at the end of the night.

Doen't make since to me. If your going to payout that kind of money to go to Nevada, what the hell is the difference in going to Tulare or Hanford? Why not payout all your shows the same. Let's face it. Travel is travel. I get that he wants cars in Nevada. You should treat every show the same until you get to special events. I probably should just keep my mouth shut as my cars have done nothing but sit for the last 3 yrs as garage queens.

To my eyes this all is about $. The money that KWS will save by basing operations in Nevada. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe there is no state income tax in Nevada and I'm fairly certain there are many other corporate tax loopholes. Just maybe the teams will benefit from the lack of state tax on their winnings, I'm no expert so who knows. By scouring around on YouTube I was able to see that both of these Nevada tracks seem to be able to produce dustless racing when prepped right. So that could and should be handled accordingly. Rattlesnake raceway in Fallon looks like it could be damn racey to me. I will take a wait and see approach to how this plays out but for certain I will not be hauling to Nevada to find out... too costly for a weekend of racing. Hope the Nevadans show up and fill the stands.
Cheers!

In talking with a KWS driver towards the end of last season, I got the impression that California promoters didn't want to pay an increased KWS purse. If that's true, I wouldn't blame KWS for moving races in Nevada. Plus, I was told that there are casinos (one or more) that are going to sponsor/help fund the events. Again, sounds positive for drivers. Face it, KWS isn't going to grow by running the same 6-8 tracks 25 times a year like they've done in the past. At least Simpson is trying to grow the brand. Time will tell if it works out for him and KWS.
