Dwane,
This was one stout sprint car! Walt's Dodge power plant made this car fast everywhere it went!

This car was built in the 1950's for Les Vaughn of Omaha,Nebraska. Over the years it was driven by many outstanding drivers.
In 1956, a young 21 year old driver from Texas became a star driving this car when it was raced by Vaughn on the IMCA
Circuit. The car ran with a Offy engine back then, and raced as a pink and black sprinter, with the number 24. The drivers name
was Anthony Joesph Foyt Junior of Houston,Texas.
A.J. was driving this car on September, 18th 1956 at Hutchinson, when he tangled with another young superstar, Don Hutchinson
Of Kansas City. A.J. Spent the night in the hospital after the heat race crash. Hutchinson, who flipped out of the Fairgrounds oval
Was DOA, at St. Elizabeth Hospital.

Roy Bryant won four Hutch Nationals, including three in a row. But, when he drove for Red Forshee in his 84 sprinter,
It was pure magic, Roy finished 2nd in BCRA points to Jay Woodside in 1966, while winning the title in 1967-68, winning several races at Belleville, Kansas, and also at Hutch in 1968. if you didn't see Roy race at the Highbanks during that time you missed out!
He was a wholly terror!

Don Brown" The Prince of Darkness" in his own car1.jpg)

Don Brown was a master craftsman, and is famous in sprint car circles for his roadster sprint cars, the Mechanicla Rabbits, that were so successful for him, Greg Weld, and Joe Saldana. But this sprint car built be him in the early 1960's was by far the most
Successful, Don won races in IMCA, and BCRA with this car, and later when it was owned by Keith Barker, and driven by Eddie Leavitt, would make the Kearney, Mo race driver a top star at race tracks across the Midlands.

Charley Lutkie in his own "The Black Panther".jpg)
|
Charlie Lutkie won the Hutch Nationals, and several races over the years in jalopy and modified competition.
But driving the most historic sprint car on this page, one of the Black Panthers, made famous by the great IMCA champion
Frank Luptow, Charlie was a terror in the sprinters as well. Lutkie won a sprint car championship in 1959, in the Black Panther, while it was still powered by a Offy, and later won the the last MVRA sprint race at Belleville in 1964.
