Is there any updates of information on Austin Weatley. He was involved with Chad Kemanah(sp) in an earlier accident.

Kemenah- nothing broke or fractured. Just muscle spasms from bad whiplash!

Good to hear nothing sounding too serious. Thanks, from what I saw on the video it looked violent.

Be cautious with the Knoxville Hospital, using that term very loosely. When I got hurt at the Nationals in '98 they released me not even knowing where I was. Woke up in my hotel room in the morning seeing two TV's yet there was only one. I went back the next day hurting and since I was a racer they didn't care at all.
Long story short.....I had a severe concussion, herniated C4 and C5 vertebrae, cracked sternum, bruised ribs, cracked bone in my wrist....and the dumb asses sent me out the door.
Everytime I hear someone has been taken to the Knoxville Hospital I cringe.

Isn't the town of Knoxville just a small town with probably a very small hospital? Hopefully, if anything is serious like you had they should have sent you to Des Moins hospital.

Give the guys a break at the small hospital. They saw something weird on an X-ray of my neck (well lets just say it was a CRA show, you guess how long ago that is) and they sent me to Des Moines. It was a good call, they (Des Moines) told me I broke my neck. So I laid there for another 45 minutes (strapped to a back board) or so, till the last doctor told me I was fine, just had scrambled eggs for brains is all.... No big deal for a sprint car driver
It's a crap shoot.
All you can do is hope for the best.

FORMER sprint car driver, turned on-road RC racer (easier on the eggs)

We talked to Austen's Dad a few minutes ago and he said Austen is doing well. The concern was his knee's, they impacted the steering box in the crash. They are badly bruised. The kid is one tough cookie though.

Definitly a nasty crash, glad they're both okay.

You Tube, under 8/10/2011 Knoxville Nationals, show the crash right at first and then right after in sort of slow motion. Terrible impact for Austen, just one ugly crash. Can't believe he could walk away, well sort of with such bruised knees. Still can see it in my mind, such an abrupt stop, really ugly!!!
