What Open Wheel Magazine was it in. I have them all and I'm tired of looking. I can't not find it when I want it.

Article is in Open Wheel March 1985 which also has a good article about Gordon Wooley. There is a great article about Harold talking about Chet Wilson in the current issue of Sprint Car and Midget Magazine too.

Okay that is not the article I'm looking for. I will just have to keep looking. Now I'm probably looking for a story about Manzanita and the Western World races in Phoenix. There was a photo of Harold Leep and the last super/modified/square tailed race car to compete. Harold was had his foot on the left rear tire of Jelly's #99. The photo was the back of the car.

I'm thinking that may have been before the Dec 1981 issue. That is a hard issue to find! I have as of yet to get that copy. Have issue 1 and 2, but not that one.

I know I have the issue I just can't find it. I'm going to bring the box of mags out to work where I have time to sort through them. During the day just way to busy stripping and waxing apartment floors.

Harold Leep and Warren "Jelly" Wilhelm's #99 in 1972. Harold with back to the camera and Jelly at the right rear of car. Maybe someone car Id the other two. This was the last t-body super that ran at the Western World at Manzanita. Some have said he had a good showing. I think he mentioned it in The Harold Leep Story video. He ran this race instead of the last NCRA race. This is a Jim Chini photo and it graced the pages of the 1st Open Wheel Magazine.

When we had the get together last time at Holly's I had a great visit with Harold and had him sign the Randy Lane poster of Harold' racing career. I asked him of all the cars he has driven which was his favorite car. He answered quickly and pointed to the #99 Jelly super (this car). He said it was also the fastest car too.

Seems to me they set a track record with this car there. Also, I think this car was the shorter 86" wheelbase super they ran in Nebraska.
The Western in 1972, was what the Knoxville Nationals is to us today. Or so that is the way John Sawyer told it. Many BIG GUNS were there, from what I understand. Jan Opperman made it his second in a row after winning in 1971.
