Thank You Dwane,
Can anybody identify the following cars Dwane posted? All these photos were taken at Tulsa in 1968.

Love these shots, on trailers too!

I like what is in the background of all these pictures, old race cars and old cars that were new at this time.

Dwane,
Just think they didn't have those fancy enclosed semi tractor trailers that cost a fortune to travel to the track today and use the trailer as a hiding place to avoid the race fans. They even used to use tow bars sometimes to go to the track back than or they used a pick-up and carry all the parts they might have to use with the race car on an open trailer.

I do not know who the car in front is but the 16 in the background is a super owned by Bob and Matt Berryhill. driven most of the time by Jerry Everhart. They sponsored the 1st Chili Bowl . the whit 87 is on of the Ballard brothers from Muskogee. The 22 is Jr. Taft, I love these pictures, I got my drivers license in 1968.

You are probably right about the #87 being Joe Ballard or one of the ballard Brothers ,,but that car looks alot like one that was #25 Bill Sanders ,i wonder if that is the same car or if the same guy built it,,i know Bill Sanders built some other cars for people this sure looks like his work.
Bill was out of the Muskoggee area..I believe he went to Late Models also a few years or so after this.I know he was a very respected Race Car builder,,and he made the change from Modifieds then to Supers then to late Models and built fast cars in all 3 types of cars...I know i always enjoyed watching his equipment..And Bill Sanders was a pretty shoe also.I rememeber something about Bill Sanders having a bad accident i think it was while he was racing,i know it stoped his racing for a while,i was not there does anybody know what happened in that accident.
Win as if you are use to it.And lose as if you enjoyed
it for a change. Its hard to get to the top and alot
harder to stay there.

This is originally the #82 owned by Carl Gragg, after he sold the car, the car in this photo was driven by Tom Hiner.

Jeez fellows... Been going ninety to nuthin here lateley and haven't had much time to myself. Took a minute to get on the site and had to go straight to this post as soon as I saw the title. Man, talk about stirring up old memories. I remember that oddball building at the fairgrounds. These shots are all just like I remember everything. It was all so awe inspiring to a youngster fresh in from the farm in 1968-69... Lordy how I loved those days. It was all so cool and magical and these photos totally capture that. Thanks a bunch!!!

Is this the car that Jr. Duvall was driving before he was killed in what they now call a domestic dispute? If this the car that he drove it was sponsored by a meat packing plant and when he packed the track they would put a set of Longhorns on the front of the car. On the tail section you can see meatspainted on it.

This is the car Junior Duvall drove. You can see the set of longhorns on the top of the car. Charlie Wells owned the car. Walt McWhorter is standing in the foreground looking at the car.

Did Charlie Wells own a lot of cars before he started driving? I know that he owned a super after he quit driving and had Gene See drive for him.I looked at that picture several times and d i not see the longhorns , just getting old and senile but i do remember they would put them on the car when they packed the track.

Look straight up from the steering wheel on top of the car. If I remember Charlie Wells bought the Ray Cates (the Chevy) super Harold Leep drove in 1972, after the '72 season ended.

My friend Bob Bales identified this as an early Jerry Holm car around 66-67. it had a real pretty metal-flake paint job.
