Bernie was my dad's first driver when he bought the #24 car from Maupin. Unfortunatly the only photos I have of Bernie is in front of the car with my dad holding the rollover trophy and another of him standing with John Kunzelman and Babe Curtis (wife of Ferrill Curtis). All 3 are now passed on. I remember Bernie at Timken, Kansas where my dad had a small mechanic shop and was working on the car. I borrowed Bernie's helmet once while us kids were racing bicycles. I thought I was really cool. I remember him as a frendly nice person. I have communicated a couple times with his son, Larry, and emailed some photos and such.
 
Bernie can be seen driving 24 in the video on YouTube "1959 Kansas racing" or it can be found here on HoseHead on the videos thread on page 8 I believe.
