A problem that has come up from the very start of the site. I have several of my own photos and most of them don't have anything under the photo, contributed by etc. I have had a few complain that due credit is not given to whoever actually took the photo. Many times photos are sent to me by e-mail. Most of the time the photos were bought at the tracks back in the day. The person who sends them to me does not have any idea who took them.

What should I do. On about every page on the main site I have this: Notice: Although I give credit to the person who contributed the photos for Racing From The Past. Twenty + years is a long time. There were many Photographers around the area. Many of the photos on this website may have been taken by some of the following and this is a blanket type credit to the many photographers. Ivan Brown, Leroy Byers, Don Clum, Van Cook, Mike Cornelson, Jim DeJarnette, Cecil Dougan, Lennel Fields, Bill Gay, Rudy Garcia Photos, Ken Greteman, Mike Howard, Marvin Hutson, C.R. Kendall, Jerry Leep, Earl Mahoney, Tim Malone, Rusty Manning, Ted McCord, Pat Rigsby, and Chuck Sterling. Without these guys this website wouldn't be as complete as it is. Should a person give credit to the contributor and say unknown who took the photo if it is not known. I believe most are just glad to see there work after 30 or 40 years later. Please give me some of the other photogs that were around in the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's. As I'm writting this and reading what I have had for 10 years or so it is obvious I have left out a couple.

Giving credit is fine, but when it comes to the point of tedious , then the magic goes out somewhat.

Rule #1--NEVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES sell without consent. The implied code of honor on this forum is so obvious, I doubt we have to worry about anyone doing that here. I have noticed a lot of quality honest people coming on this board.

Otherwise I operate under the "public domain" clause, and try to give credit when I have time. I'm not the best at that, but I am trying to get better. I wish people would come in , take credit for work they did, and give the story behind the pictures.

Also, if someone has a bug up their 'you know what' about not getting credit--how about the ones that made the picture worth taking? The drivers, the track people, owners, sponsors, people in the stands.

We're here to have fun and find a peice of America we don't get to see anywhere else. Giving and taking credit needs to be operated under a Gentlemans rule , meaning no harm is ever intended from either party.

Believe me, if you do enough work, you will have credit coming out of your ears to the point of wanting to hide. The videos and pics i put on here are from other people, (artists). You will not find one single mention of 'brian26' on the vintagesupermodified youtube page. I am not worthy to take credit, in my eyes, BUT I cannot withhold what so many people'like me', have been missing so badly for so long, when I KNOW I can help fix that. To me, it is worth the ass chewing if something goes wrong.

POSTING- Is a compliment in itself. That means it's worth seeing. If you see your work, we want to hear from ya. Tell us the story and take us down the road we come here to be on, as brothers. If we see your work being exploited, we your friends, will be sure to let you know. Small world.

Thank you

I respect your concern. In the future I will give credit as per the photos I may post on this site. Although most photos were taken by myself, my brother or my parents, there are a few I purchased in Dodge City (years ago) from a local photographer. There are also those that I may have downloaded or were given to me. If possible credit will be given as due. I do realize that such cannot always be done as the source information may not be available.

Lets just continue as we have. Maybe we could have some more names of photogs from the past. I can then give a blanket type credit to all the photogs from back in the day. I have linked Rudy's website with his name above. If you have photos don't be afraid to post them. Don't take me serious I was just rambling, but the topic has come up. Many photos may have the name of the photog on the back of the photo.
