I have known about this site for sometime, but I'm not sure if it has ever gotten any credit on the forum B4. Of course old age for myself has done set in. If you haven't been their B4 I know you will enjoy the many photos of Shane Carson and Family.

There's much more to Shane than those pics. We need to start a thread here (or just use this one) , on Shane.
He got those good rides due to talent, real national level talent--and not because he was Bud Carsons kid.
Had things worked a little sweeter for him, he would have been most definitely one of the top five drivers of the 80's in WoO. The more I find, the more I'm impressed. He really deserves a book.

Kinser and Ferkel fight it out for the Championship win at Eldora in '78. Shane beats them both.

I firmly believe that if Trostle had stuck with Shane, he would have won far more races with him than Wolfgang, since Wolfgang wouldn't stay in one place too long. Yes, I am a fan of both...just an observation.
an earlier ride. The scary fast and scary light aluminum Nance sprinter.

Shane got a van. Bud thought he would use that van to chase and aquire girls! lol.
He didn't need to since many times the party would be at the Carson home anyway. So, he used the van to hide his dirtbike. That is where he learned the dance with a machine.
Catching the leader here,

Shane and Trey Jorski (115) are both Oklahoma racing legends IMO.

Excellent Sprint Car Driver, ya don't stay in it that long without being good , great thing is to as he was always friendly after the show , good night or bad , seen that many times.
Great promoter of the WoO events at OKC back in the 80's and 90's , sometimes mother nature just would not cooperate and how he kept his sanity in some of those mother nature battles was quite impressive.
Always wondered why he did not get to promote OKC facility on a weekly basis and maybe I will never know why, Politics, Dealing with OKC officials or seeing what his dad had to deal with with the Fariboard or just dealing with all the headaches that goes along with being a Promoter of weekly events but I will always wonder what it would have been like with him promoting the Fairgrounds, If the WoO shows were any clue , maybe they would not be currentyly tearing down the facility , it might be thriving beyond the potential that it always had lying dormant with someone with the right mentality and insight to come and wake it up and make it like Knoxville or Eldora , Willams Grove, Chico , the thing about it was the logistics of the track , centrally located in America right off I-40 and all the potential was there for it to be one of the best.
Ya know reading the article in the Sunday Oklahoman Aug. 15th about how the Indian Casino's are doing so well and it is just a shame that the Indian Casino's like Firelake on I-40 east of OKC or the Chicksaws on I-35 South of OKC do not build a top of the line dirt track facility and hire a Shane Carson to come in and get the place going , with all the multi millions they hand out to the state and profit they make , they would never miss the $$$ for building a top of the line Racing Facility and it would bring in folks from all over the country to gamble and once it established itself with the right promoter with instant credibility like Shane Carson , the potential of it would be unlimited.
But they don't listen to me and simple reality has set in and I will just keep tuning on my Champ Sprint to race again somewhere several hours down the road. J.D.

I stumbled across this thread while lurking around here and had to add to it. I used to "stooge" for Shane from time-to-time and am happy to still call him a friend.
I snapped this shot at Eldora in April of '78.
