My name is Steven Schrater [email protected]. My father (Vernon Schrater 1923/Feb.2010) owned and raced the #24 car from 1959 to the later 60's. My dad modified it through several transformations to what is shown in the attached shown photos below. It was successfully driven by Gene Potts of Great Bend, Kansas throughout Kansas and Oklahoma. The 24 car was later sold to Howard Pedigo of Great Bend who owned it for a few years. It was maintained by Vernon Schrater, John Kunzelman and others until Howard he sold it. I would like to locate the 24 car and perhaps restore it if that is a possibility. I heard that Howard sold it to someone near Stockton, Kansas but I am not sure and have had no success in finding leads to its possible location. I failed to discuss this with my dad before his death as he may have had some good idea as to its existance. If anyone can help me please use my email address listed above. Thanks

P.S. Thanks to all the 60's/70's racers that made my youth so exciting.

As i look at my post I see both the verbage and the photos below as I scroll downward. There are 4 photos of the car as it was when sold. (accept for it was sold with a chevy 6). If you cannot see the photos I can E them to you?

My icon of a MICRO #24 and myself (way back when) is NOT the car I am now referring to. I know that may be confusing. Although I am interesed in the location of the micro 24 also.

Write a letter to the editor explaining everything you know with dates etc.

Take an ad out in the local paper or maybe the Hays and Salina papers also.

Put your phone # and maybe e-mail. If they won't publish photos direct them to this page or to your photo site you have.

Although many older exrace fans may not have computers, many still take the local paper and especially the Sunday Salina Journal or Hays Daily News. That car could be setting behind a barn, in the barn, in a windbreak with a tree growing up through it.

Contact the announcer at the Stockton track and see if he will mention it in his announcing. A twenty $ bill might help. By an ad in the program if they print one.

There is also a track in Hays that runs weekly now. You have Osborne, Wakeeney and Norton that are area tracks also and run weekly of Biweekly.

There is also a person up there that has racing junk yard out in his pasture. There is one viewer on here that has been there.

I know he brought all the old cars from Homer Ruth's(?) pasture near Soloman, KS.

If nothing else someone will give you the sad news that I remember that car and we cut it up. Maybe someone will remember where it did go. race cars were traded and sold a lot.
