saturday night had to be the worst display of track prep i have ever seen and if u didnt get caught up in all the wreaks because of the tack conditions you still have a $900 tire bill. bakersfeild speedway is a joke and i hope its either removed from the schedule

i find it pretty sickening that the promotor has a big open wheel show and still decides to prep the track for those sorry excusses for racecars. if he would just keep the dirt ripped up a bit and put some water down it would be fine. The problem is he doesn't water it, then seals it with the push trucks before any cars ever hit the track.

i love bakersfield...it's my favorite track. certainly something has to be done different when the open wheel cars are there. midgets at bakersfield are pretty much the best racing ever but i feel it's gonna be the same old same old on the 17th...

mr kearns, maybe you could talk some sense into that promotor up there and get bakersfield back on track.

You guys are exactly right. The track was crap should not be that dry this early on in the season. Also the officiating is horrible, what you do to one should be done to all. Here is where i hear the problem was this weekend. The only represenative for the usac 360 series stated that they run a 2 cause rule not a 2 spin rule. I have always known about the 2 spin rule not a 2 cause rule. To me a 2 spin rule is cut and dry if you spin twice on the track then you are done it's pretty much black and white. With a 2 cause rule it leaves a grey area for officials to make calls based on what they see and if you watch the video from sat nights race you will see that it was a bad call on black flagging the 17v of Faria and not a few others that were "Causes" of multiple yellows. It is what it is but the grey area in a "causes call" was not equal to all sat night and that's that. Call me right call me wrong either way some things need to be ironed out before the next open wheel race is held in Bakersfield.

If it does not make dollars, it does not make sense!

We are actually working out some things to be fixed before this weekends race. Saturday night was a handful as i have only two eyes. We are working on a few things that Chris or I will let everyone know about ASAP! Couple of those are having an extra set of eyes for our series, fixing the cause rule to a STOP rule so its takes judgement out of it, and adjusting how many cars we take out of each heat. I have been working on this all morning that way we can have the best possible show. Thanks for your patience guys and gals.

I think the USAC official was full of crap...I've personally seen mike Spencer stop on a yellow-get started-drive to the work area to get a nerf yanked off for safety -then get called for the two stop rule

There is no such thing as a 2 cause rule! It is a 2 caution caused by a the same driver stopping on the track that results in a yellow. From what I seen on http://www.golivestream.tv/channels/RealFast.TV/shows/WEST_COAST_SPRINTS_3-27-10

Faria got screwed. It wasn't even his fault he just got ran over and never stopped on the track. That is Bullsh**. Seems to me they need to review the rule book and train their officials. This caused Faria to drop the lead in points.

Ishi from the looks of the video got screwed as well.

It was a total racing deal to me!

All I see is a challanging track with a couple of bumps and a hole.

And a buttload of driver error.

got to drive around the hole or through it, which ever you chose, deal with it

The rest of them do

I really hope Chris works this out but we were charged $6 .00 per gallon for methanol! And I have not yet received a discount at any pitgate for $150 spent on a USAC license.

wow hogracer have u ever driven a sprint car or preped one for that manner by your post im guessing not ur probably one of those guys who goes to watch the trash cans beat the $hi* out of eachother wen a fender car gets in a wreck u rip the sheet metal off and continue wen a sprint car gets in a wreck it costs alot more money to repair that is a risk we take but wen the cost can be avoided by a couple truck loads of water thats when people get frustrated so before you post on this topic further do some homework and get educated on the subject or just stay out of it

Did you show them your USAC card. You be paying member pricing at the tracks. If this is not the case, please find Doug Lockwood and he will take care of it.

The 2 cause rule is completely my fault. Dont know how I did that in the Sprint rules. The rule will be changed to 2 stops. I am sorry. Yes Faria got screwed because I screwed up. I cant fix that, I can only make it better before the next race. I am also going to have a second set of eyes out there to help Doug and the race tracks.

I will not be cancelling the Bakersfield races. I will however talk to and work with Bakersfield promoter on a better race track for the next visit. And Matt, the word Boycott is just bad for every part of racing!!!

So if you stop on the track to avoid another wreck you are counted for a stop and then someone does it again or perhaps you were at fault you are done?????? So lets just say hey run them over so I dont get credit for a stop. Great plan really!!!!!! Think before you react guys we have kids, fathers, family memembers and friends in these cars. Please rethink this or make it make sense for me.

Actually......... I would love to have Mr. hogracer's track record with sprint cars. I'm sure he has plenty of experience with sprinters.

There really should be a certain amount of leeway to help this situation. There is a big difference in stopping for safety and being caught up in a wreck. .

Thank you Jeremy, you have a bright future ahead.

Matt, the answer to your question is yes, on most of your questions--

Yes I do have one of those 741hp "Trash Cans" as you call it, and every bit as much $$ in it as your beloved 360 sprint, and have a 40% winning percentage in those dumpster races.

Used to crew and sponsor a Bandit 360 car with 11 wins and a couple of track records, and a rookie of the year.

Used to think just like you do Matt, but now we elect to move to a division where it ultimately costs less to run, and run up front consistently as we are all getting older now.

Racing is just racing, some faster, some slower, and It doesn't always mean that one driver or crew has more or less talent than the others.

We all came from stock cars then up to sprints, and most everything in between, now back to stock cars, and you know what they're all a blast.

Never under estimate your opponent, no matter what he drives.

I still watch sprint cars every chance I get.

I think Bakersfield got some new clay this year, and if so, it usually takes quite a few races to get them worked in.

The Schweitzer's have been in the dirt business a long time, they know what they're doing.

Tracks catch a bad night every now and then, all of them.

I would say that an unseasonably warm and windy week prior to the race added some challenge to track prep, but every car had to work with it.

Those trash cans bring some tracks back later in the night, SMS is one example
