My dad, Eugene Hair ,raced the area for years. In 1969 or '70 he swept the program at OKC Fairgrounds. The front page article of the program started off " TEXAN SWEEPS ' or something to that effect. He was the first texan to do so since LLOYD RUBY. Dad would really like to have this program since his got blowed away in the 1979 tornado that hit Wichita Falls. we have not been very successful at finding it,need help!!I believe MAR-CAR was the sanctioning body at the time.If you have any leads or info about this particular program please E-mail me at [email protected]

I think Eugene may like anything from his racing days. If I remember right he lost everything in the monster of a tornado that hit Wichita Falls. All photos trophies etc. If I remember right one of the kids ask me to put it on the Home page in the early days of the site and I did. Don't know if they got any photos etc.

At this point in the Year,Eugene was leading point standings at okc, lawton, wichita falls, second in ncra points. He did go on to win championships at Lawton and Wichita Falls that year of 1975 . A.J. did not win it that year as somebody else remembered.I forgot if it was '74 or '75 dad and A.J. went to the last night of racing to decide who won, it was a helluve race but Eugene beat him in the feature to take the championship.

hair24fan, I remember when Eugene drove the #7 Palmer Motors Car back in the late 70's and lost a LF one night and managed to win the A Feature that night at Lawton, I think he lost it on about lap 8 or so and his whole LF was packed with mud by the end of the A and brakes had quit and it was quite impressive to watch him drive with only 3 wheels and win the deal, I remember him saying that if they would have had a yellow or red it would have done him in on winning as his momentum and keeping the car on the gas and the LF up off the ground as much as possible , it sure was something to watch that night.
