Quoted from the letter-
Brian,
I found this super 3 weeks ago in the middle of nowhere. East of Winfield , Kansas. It is a 1971 nance that was bought in Wichita in 1977 from an unknown owner and was raced as #77 in Caney, Dewey, and Wichita by Mark Jennings until about late 1979 when it was parked. You can see a #88 under the paint and looks like maybe a blue paint job. It is all complete minus motor with original tires and wheels, plus extra parts the owner had stored in an old garage. The original 283 motor is supposed to be around someplace, I'm still looking.

So I guess the question is, anybody got any stories or history on this car? Sam Saeger of Meno, OK picked it up with a restoration notedly in mind.

Could that be the #88 of Darrell Johnson's from Neosho, MO (are you out there David Johnson). Could it be (blue in mind) the #37 Roy Bryant drove in 75. Bill Nichols of Nichols Honda fame of Wichita drove a red and white #37 which was probably the same car as above or possibly the same cars as all 3, the #88, #37 and #37. The #88 is on the site with Jack Belk at the wheel. Tim might be able to id the car.
The car with Roy and Bill are on the site from the 75 and 77/78 era. I believe the #88 was the #11 gold Nance house car in 68/69.

Looking at the incline of the front rollcage hoop, it's more like the Belk car. Also note the car has the rectangular tubing framerails, early 70's indeed.

Not trying to get a wild goose chase going here but--Notice the cut off brace(?) tube that goes down to the right front from the cage just like Belks car-
That makes "3" matches--#88, incline of the rollcage front hoop, and tubing brace evidence.

OKAY,
Did the Belk car have rectangular frame rails?
Any notable blue on the car?
Help us out guys, this might be a big find!

Headrest cross bar seems the same too.
Nerf bars and steering are in different locations as to mounting points.

Looking at this picture up close, the top is separate from the body here too.

Hello Tim Belk here,,,No way it is the Blue #37 Roy Bryant drove,,, that car is in SW,MO still in pieces.....There is enough of the body there to confirm it. I talked to Roy and Al about this car and told them both were it was. It was a new Nance kit car in 74. Roy picked it up and took it to Al Weiland in Iola Kansas in the winter of 74. Al Weiland put the car together for Roy for the 75 year in Wicitha. ..Al wanted 37 on it and Roy wanted the Blue and White and the rest is history. But that car is in SW Mo.
The #88 was the #11 Nance house car in 68, 69 for sure.So it cant be a 71 Nance. The Johnsons purchased it from Nance late in the year of 69,i was there when that took place. The car in the picture does not look right to me . #88 had a 2 piece top,the car in this picture clearly has a sold one piece body. The nurf bars are wrong also. And the rear bumper bars dont look right ether. The #88 had a wooden bumper and the mounts dont look right on the car in the picture. The wood bumper off the #88 is still in SW Mo at the Johnsons. The configeration on the back of the red and white car in the picture looks to be a newer Nance car like early 70s,,not from about 67 or 68. There is a few other things about it also but i cant see it good enough in the pic to say for sure.
The #88 i dont think was ever Blue.It was mostly Dark Brown with white in 70 and Mostly White with dark brown on it in 71.They reveresed the colors the 2 years. And in 69 it was a gold color.
Tim

Win as if you are use to it.And lose as if you enjoyed
it for a change. Its hard to get to the top and alot
harder to stay there.

Whoever had this car went to alot of trouble to make it part RED. They went deep with the Red color on stuff.
.
I think somebody need to check records in Ok around 72 to 77. For a car with the red and White it has on it. I dont have enough records from the Wicitha or Enid area in the Mid 70s to check it out.
Nice find ,i wish it was the old 88 but i dont think so.To much red on the main parts. Tim

No knock offs on the Axles,as on the 37 and 88. This car did does not have all the real good stuff with it. And the other picture from the cockpit dont look right ether. Tim
