Lloyd Ruby Invitational just south of the Oklahoma state line April 25th, Texoma Motor Speedway, Wichita Falls, TX
Harold Leep Jr. Memorial , May 16-17, Oklahoma Sports Park, Ada, Oklahoma
Those weekends are set. Could be a Friday test and tune, Saturday night run with scheduled show, and Sunday shoot and scoot. Actual details will be forming as time gets nearer.
Responsible fast driving is fine, but this will not be a race. Turning this into a race would definitely hurt our car count. If there are several fast guys who wish to run a little heated, you will be put into a heat of your own.
If you just want to display, that is every bit as cool.

I also heard a rumor about a possible show in Enid, Ok. You might call that track, they'll know more.

Brian,...You seem to be the most involved in setting up these meets. I suggested earlier having someone take a lot of pictures & produce CDs to sell to interested parties for a reasonable fee. Another popular thing would be find a centrally located (to all the meets) shopping center kiosk that transfers pictures onto T shirts for under $20. Ask if they would be interested in setting up at each meeting & produce T shirts for attendees. We all have favorite race cars.
I had one of my cars airbrushed on a white collared shirt. I also asked at a kiosk in the Altamont Mall in Orlando if the would transfer a picture of a race car to a T shirt & they will. I have not been back down there but plan too. I think the picture has to be run through a special printer that produces a copy that will transfer. You may want to cut away the background of any picture before transferring it to a shirt.
I am sure 1,000 of racers in your area will read this and may volenteer to set this up. Keep the racing spirit going! This is the best site on the web! ........Luther Brewer

I have run my cars at several Iowa tracks. Knoxville, Boone, Bloomfield, Oskaloosa & an IMCA Sprint fair date in Eldon. This was during the 60s......Luther Brewer

Yes I 'seem' to be, but that's not the case. There are several good, very qualified people mapping this all out. It's all volunteer, and it sometimes is like starting a bonfire with with green wood. If you give up, someone else steps in and starts throwing on more fuel.
What I do is try to report accurately what people would like to be doing if others joined in. A lot of stuff doesn't make it on the board here. I have been seeing a lot of good people making an honest effort dealing with the cars we love here. I mean a lot of good people. These cars, pictures, models, stories and so on are our art form I suppose. Long ago and still today this whole thing has been about family really. Each person having their own perspective of what it means to them, yet with a common thread.
A show with these cars would really be just another expression, but in motion. It takes everything else to inspire a pair of hands to take steel, aluminum, and fiberglass and pursue the dream of a horse you haven't ridden yet. Just like old race cars, no two horses are the same. Of course you Luther would know that better than most of us here.
I got off track, but yes we need t-shirts and picture cds. Getting these done isn't a problem, getting me to ask for money, that is a problem. If this keeps going like it is, we'll need a trusted treasurer that keeps a good clean set of books.

I'm up here in Kansas, but I really don't see a problem with some sort of money raising effort. It can always be paid back to the participants in some kind of fund or show-up purse for the shows. It can be used to help pay for a banquet or advertising and the expenses. It could even be used for a quarterly meeting to rent a real banquet room for your get togethers.
I would love to do some more t-shirts for the site, but gettting the up front money together always seems to be a problem for me. When I did the ones it was a real be hit. Even Rick Salem that made the shirts kept making shirts for some viewers after I ran out on his own.
Some may remember the shirts I had made, they had Frankie Lies (Riffel 55), Jay Woodside (Jelly's 24) and Harold Leep in the (Suchy 76).
Your group could do a shirt with actual restored cars in your group. Maybe someone in the group has close ties with Norman Martin in the Dallas area. I will post a photo of the shirts I had.

It was kind of a Kansas based shirt and should have had Oklahoma and Texas represented with a late model and a sprint etc. The idea was a series of shirts. Here is the proof for the screen printed shirt.

I need to have some more made. I think I will check into that this week. Anybody out there shoot me a price on 250 shirts. This was a very popular e-mail a while back. What about more t-shirts? Should have a couple of good checks coming the next couple of weeks.

This was one of the first proofs for a RFTP T-Shirt in the beginning. There were plans to do a series of individual stars with the below on the back.

Keep us posted on the shirts. Did you do 3 seperate shirts, or have all 3 cars on the same one. If they are seperate, I would take several of each, and pay up front. Do you have the artwork for them. That should make it alot less expensive. Do you know if Rick still does this, and if he checks in? If he does, it would be great to do a series based on these three, and let Brian and his gang pick some cars/drivers/pictures to add to it.

This was the front of the shirts we sold on the site in the fall 5 or 6 years ago.

This was on the back.

Last year I stopped in and talked to Rick for a few minutes. He talked like he was getting out of the t-shirt business. Talked like he would sell all his equipment. That was then and I'm not sure what he is doing. Busy with the United Rebel Sprint Series.

I can't remember if we had 60 or 80 made. But they went fast. It was just poor business on my part. There is always something coming up. Like the next couple of weeks we are helping the daughter move to Fort Campbell KY to be with here husband in the army. They can't even afford the gas to get there let alone the U-haul.

With your reputation and the good work you've done here for us,
I'd be the first one to send the money for my shirts. Just get 'em done when you can. And yes, I personally would like to see you get a little profit that would help you put out another group of shirts. This thing keeps going like it is, people will be wanting t-shirts.
