Odell Anderson #30 age 79, automotive mechanic, passed away Thursday 1/18/08. Services pending. Mark Griffith-Westwood In Tulsa. Please leave any thoughts here as I couldn't find any guestbook at Legacy like I normally do. At times like this stories etc. can help alot to ease the pain.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of O'dell, Warren Vincent!!!
The Grandkids are writing me to see if I have any photos of O'dell, Maybe you viewers can help out on this. I thought sure I had one of O'dell on the site, but I couldn't find it. If anyone has any attach them to an e-mail and send them to me or include them on the forum here. I will forward any photos to the family.

I have many happy memories of Odell. I first met Odell back in 81 or so when he purchased a hood from me for his new car. A few years later my family purchased a convenient store about 1 block from Odell's house. Leonard White Jr. (Odell's grandson) was just getting his driving career going, and I would give Odell and Leonard a couple of 6 packs of sodas each week, for their enjoyment after the races. Leonard and Odell became a everyday visitors to my store to chat about racing and just whatever. I had a 1 ton Chevy dually that kept having transmission problems and Odell told me to let him have a whirl at it. Leonard said his grandpa could fix anything. Well low and behold Odell fixed it, while many dealerships couldn't get it done. Odell was a quiet man, but a man who spoke his mind about the issues. He was a permanent fixture when Tulsa raced at the fairgrounds and again when they moved out to 66 st North. Odell always had the up-most respect from me. His years of wisdom was a fresh breath to all the yaw yaw most other drivers spoke of. Odell never tooted his own horn, but he had many true fans in the stands who would do it for him. I can remember a yell my youngest brother Scott would say when Odell pulled onto the track. He would stand up and yell at the top of his lungs with all might, O-D-E-L-L-L-L-L, HE'S MY MAIN MAN!!!!!!!! I would roll laughing but Scott respected what Odell stood for. He always thought Odell stood for the little guy who did not have to sacrifice his family and career to go racing. A man who did not have to mortgage his home and first child to go race. A man who showed that if you wanted to race you could on any-type of budget. Odell, some of my finest memories of racing include you in them. May God Bless your family in their time of need. God Speed Odell. Thanks Dan Noble
