I'm not familiar with that name and Google didn't help. I could use a little more context please. What car does he drive?

Because his name is Wade Aunger. He's an Australian who announces at Knoxville.
I don't know, I got a little teary-eyed last night when he talked about Doug Clark. I do have a pet peeve of announcers who mistakenly think they're the show.

I liked him at first and he was well received by the fans but I think they use him too much now.

I'm over the whole "BamBam" thing. It's so tired since the Flintstone days.

I don't mind him but I also don't pay attention to the announcers much. Now the clown on his four wheeler, I think it was pork chop, we never need back.

Porkchop! Hell yes! Forgot about that blast from the past!
Ya, I'm over Wade. If he just showed up for Nationals week, I think it would have been fine. But now, with months of him each year, it's getting very close to the annoyance of Michael Waltrip walking up and down pit road pre-race acting like a buffoon. And when you're getting compared to Michael Waltrip, it might be time to assess your image...

I don't know Wade personally. Since he started showing up at Knoxville and other tracks I've truly enjoyed listening to him. I love his commentary and banter with the other announcers, officials and racers. I also enjoy his Facebook posts.
We're asking racers to show some personality, and I expect the same from those who we get to hear over the PA. We're truly spoiled when we can complain about Wade ffs.

I'll take him over the annoying Tony Bokhoven any day.

I don't understand "acts like he runs the place". Could you expand on this or be more specific? How does he do this?

I put my earplugs in start of the first heat and don't take them out until after the feature. Between the nonstop commercials, Wade, YELLOW YELLOW YELLOW and the car noise there is no reason to take them out.

I spent a lot of years in the infield wearing ear plugs and not paying any attention to announcers. Between over the top announcers, hot weather, turning 75 in a couple months and drunks in the grandstands I'm ready to "retire" permanently to my man cave with DV and Flo. I got a specialized cancer treatment called CAR-T cell therapy that put DLBCL in remission but takes a year to recover from the treatment. Fighting fatigue and low immunity with high risk of lung infections so no inhaling dust either.
Anyways, announcers have their place and most do a good job. I like Wade though I haven't met him. My wife and I had to change our Medicare policy so we went and saw Brooke Tatnell's wife Amy who works at a health insurance provider here in town. I have to be careful to only say positive things about Wade as he's a super star down under. I like Wade and find his interviews interesting but one that rubs me the wrong way is Tony the pit reporter for HL. I'm sure he's a great guy but I have to mute him every time he's on screen. Everyone has racing media personalities that get under their skin including me when I was dabbling in it twenty years ago. Just tune them out, they can handle it.

I liked him at first but as many have stated I think with some of how over antimated he has gotten over the past handful of years a lot of people have grown tired of him. At first he was like the cool uncle from Australia that was fun to be around but as years have gone he has become more of the drunk uncle who tries to be the center of the party and everyone is tries to block out his antics hoping that he will either go away or calm down a bit. Nice guy and all but seems like he over does it a bit with asking the crowd for reactions like, "HAVE WE GOT ANY (insert any driver) FANS OUT THERE!!!" The Michael Waltrip comparison is pretty spot on.
Just do the interviews, we care more about the drivers not the interviewer.

I have met him, and was actually interviewed by him in a fan interview under the grandstands just a couple of years ago, which he posted on Facebook. Nice guy. Super nice guy! But having him scream over the PA system during every break, for 2 months straight----it's gotten to be a bit much.
