Set the bar so high that absolutely everything else on dirt is just soooo boring.

I haven't enjoyed one night of the Chili Bowl.

Its just made me appreciate the fact that Volusia is only a few weeks away.

The mains are pretty good. Everything else is a joke.

This is my first year watching anything other than MAV Saturday night.  Most of the racing has been good.  The number of yellows every night is absolutely ridiculous.  The time wasted Tuesday night was absolutely ridiculous.  The 4+ hours it will take Saturday night for 19 minutes of green flag racing on MAV will be absolutley ridiculous.  I do find myself tuning in later and later each nght and caring less and less about missing the early stuff.  You likely won't miss much if you start watching when the qualifiers begin.  I'm guessing unless there is an epic alphabet run Saturday, there won't be much interesting except the shuffle, B and A.

.I'm a die hard wing sprint car guy, but 9 out of 10 non-wing and midget races I get to watch are better than wing races I get to watch. So while wing racing will always be my favorite, it is usually kind of oring compared to non wing and midget racing.

The answer is Yes!  It is a waste of time to watch anything else.

I've never been really in to the Chili Bowl, I know I'm in the minority. Too many drivers that don't belong, too many yellows. I watched one A main all week. Seems a foregone conclusion who will win each night.

This is also my first time watching all the Chilli Bowl preliminary nights. I have settled into this routine. I turn on Flo at 6pm to watch the eight heat races which take approximately an hour or so. I then do other things, while periodically checking the tweets on Hoseheads to see where they are on the schedule. I then go back on Flo at 10pm or so and watch the feature. For the most part, the features have been pretty good so far in my opinion.

I prefer winged-410's over any other machine on the planet.  However, midgets produce some the of the best action of any form of racing.  I enjoy the Chili Bowl, have been tuned in every night, and will be glued to the TV Saturday night.  The Chili Bowl is just fun and is a spectacle.    However, it is hard to beat midgets on a 1/4-3/8 mile track for all-out racing!

Thank you. I feel better. I thought I was the only one who just couldn't get excited about it.

Nope, but I'm one of the weird people that pretty much like everything and stay till the end of the show every week. 410's are my favorite for sure, but I enjoy late models, modifieds, NE modifieds, street stocks, 4 bangers. Some of the crate classes are about the only ones I don't enjoy a ton

+1 on your last paragraph.   The best sprint car races I've ever witnessed have been non-wing.   With winged shows the heats are almost always freight trains.  If you're lucky the track slicks some for the feature and then maybe you see some good racing.   Or maybe not...

Agree with you completely on the foregone conclusion aspect. Every year, the Chili Bowl diehards chest thump that there are 300 cars there. IMO, 300 cars isn't really a  huge selling point when only 4-5 of them realisitcally have a shot at winning Saturday night.

Racing has to be pretty hard to watch to make a Vikings fan want to watch the Green Bay game but that is what I'm doing.

I have enjoyed bits and pieces of this week but I have no motivation to vacation for a week in Tulsa and attend this event.  In another thread I asked about speeds and guessed 70 but looking closer today it's probably more like 50.  They go a lap or two before a spin or flip and as pointed out there are some drivers that probably don't even belong out there racing.

I think if there is any saving grace later tonight will be the best drivers and the racing will likely be better.  I think part of the draw of this event partially revolves around consuming large amounts of alcohol and seeing friends.  It's a week of racing in the winter when nothing else is going on.  I am looking forward to next weeks Wild Wings deal out west.  That should be a lot more entertaining unless someone is into flips.  That's not my thing and I much prefer a bigger wider outdoor track where they have a chance of going green to checkers.

I've watched it a few times years ago when it used to be on TV but never really got into it. Now I don't even pay much attention to it. Wreck after wreck, caution after caution gets boroing real quick to me. Winged 410's are my fave but I do like a lot of other dirt track classes, pretty much anything with a V8 engine.

I enjoy all dirt open wheel racing except modifieds if you count them, and feel the midgets are just as fun to watch as winged cars.

They are all better than the taxi cab races on Sundays.

The same can be said for the Knoxville Nationals as far as 4-5 capable of winning but I still love it.

I'm a wing guy, but on average the non wing sfuff is usually closer competition with more passing, and wings produce more snoozers.  But I will happily sit through those snoozers for rhe absolutely thrilling Mach 2 blitzes with 3 guys swapping sliders through lapped traffic.

Never seen the "flip count" for the Nationals at 65 either...
