Does Balog finally get the W against these guys this week? He started deep in the field last year and was right on Blaney and Schaffer's tail at the checkered. If he can start in the first few rows this time, I like his chances. I'd like to see the 80k start up front too. I like Dale Blaney, but I'm really hoping not to see him on the front row again.  I'm thinking Blaney, Schaffer, Danny Holtgraver, and Cap Henry will all be there. Who else?

It was great when Dave Moulis won the Gumout Series race there back in the day. I think it's about time the locals defend the home turf once again...

This is the opening race for the All Stars Thunder Through the Plains series which carries a seperate point fund. Might pick up a few more cars due to that. Overall IRA has been averaging 32-34 cars at Wilmot this year so with the additional cars from the All Stars sure looks like a field of over 40 cars tackling Wilmot. Should be a great show.

I'd go but went to Eldora last weekend.  Going to see some rock n roll this weekend.   Should be a good race for the hicks down in the Wilmot area.

95% sure I'm going. looking forward to it. hopefully they will be able to make the track in to something that doesn't resemble dirt/clay that's been baking under a 100 degree + sun day after day. my $ is on Bill this week, he's been on a tear. Super imressive intensity, no fear flying through lapped traffic. I think that will be the difference. it helps to have a bit more familiarity w the track than Blaney or Schaeffer too.

If I remember correctly, they only had 6 All Stars last year.  I remember being disappointed but the racing was good.

I don't think familiarity has anything to do with it.  These guys get paid to drive different tracks every night.  They have good equipment. They have talent and ability. I remember a few years back, Todd Hepfner was not going to run Wilmot.  Somehow they talked Sammy into driving his car, they left Todd's shop for the track at the last minute, arrived in time to qualify.  What did Sammy do?  Timed fast, won his heat and swept the night with a A main win.  Sammy had not been at Wilmot before, so what I am saying is familiarity doesn't really help much if you can drive the damn car.  I am hoping for a good show.  Sort of bummed that DICK won't make it to watch with the rest of us Hicks...Wait, no I'm not....

I see your point, but I do believe guys like Balog, Sexton, Kertscher, Mock, the Uttechs etc do have a slight edge with the sheer number of races they've run there. Of course I wouldn't be surprised to see Blaney or Schaeffer win, they're truly are amongst the elite sprint car drivers in hte world. I was at that night when Sammy crushed everybody! I think it was right around this time of year. total surprise, which was great for me, as I was still a huge Sammy fan at that time. He was just on a different level that night, so aggressive (compared to everyone else on the track). Todd must have done a decent job setting the car up for him. MadDog we gotta down a beer at one of these IRA events, you don't seem like a knob.

from WIlmot's FB page; "Jac Haudenschild and other All-Star racers join Dale Blaney, and Tim Shaffer as they leave New York, where they competed last night, enroute to Wilmot for Saturday's showdown with the IRA. All-Star sources tell us that in addition to the very popular and talented trio mentioned above, that Cap Henry, Trey Gustin, and Caleb Helms are also confirmed, with Danny Holtgraver and a few others likely."

I can be a knob, when talking to these other 'knobs' on here, such as Big Dick Danger, and Strangedick, and there are a couple more of those tools that are related, related as in "NO BRAINS" and not real race fans.  By the way, the set-up for Todd's car that night was done by none other than former IRA Champion, Dick Colburn.  I'll be there Saturday, I'm putting my blanket down today.  (I live close)  lol

Last 2 years huh? Crazy, well Im glad I don't fall asleep when I am at a show like the Nationals. He was definetely there in 2011. I have pictures to prove it. I believe he finished one spot out of a transfer spot in the C main on Saturday. Ignorance is an ugly trait....

Does this news up your chances of going to maybe 97%?
