I just saw that Danica's team is trying to buy Blaney's qualifying spot for the Daytona 500. In return Blaney's team will get engineering help from Stewart/Haas, plus Reutimann will get some rides from them also.

If she was really as good as they portray her to be and with the equipement she's driving there shouldn't be any problem with her qualifying for the race on her own,but even Stewart/Haas is smart enough to know that she's nothing more than a cash cow and a bunch of hype.NASCAR needs to stop this kind of B.S. The fastest 43 make the race and the rest go home!

Buying in was NOT invented last week. Back in the 1970s, before they had provisionals, Darrell Waltrip qualified 44th fastest for a 40 car field.

He bought out the FOUR teams in front of him. (He paid them to withdraw).

I also seem to remeber Sammy Swindell doing the same thing at a WoO race when he was running all of the races. In Sammy's case it was just one car.

There's going to be tons of hype at Daytona for Danica. The sponsor wants to hedge their bets. They do have wrecks in the qualifying races.

Blaney and TBR will benefit from the extra help and they already proved last year that they can get the job done. Danica is a marketing magnet and she's going to draw a lot of attention, it is what it is.

Put Dave in her car, and it would have been in the race!!! Problem solved!!!

She is hardly a top-tier driver, more like a bottom half of the Nationwide series driver. Had one of the top 5 or 6 cars in Nationwide and she was always running around 20th, race after race and would only move up if top 20 cars would crash or lose a motor or tire. The only cars she could stay in front of were the low budget cars. Sad that someone who can sell t-shirts only can receive so much attention. Funny how your gender (Danica), your surname (Jr) or you race (Hamilton) can give you so so much attention from the media, but to be fair, Hamilton is a great driver, though the championship he won should be tarnished, but thanks to his race, it won't be. Massa should have been the champion, he earned it. What happened to that car to allow Hamilton to pass it is to this day is not talked about. Forget the guys name, but he must have turned the ignition off just for about ten seconds allowing Hamilton to catch and pass him. Me always smelled conspiracy in that thing.

dave will be in his own car. so he should make the race. danica is not taking daves ride.

She's taking Dave's guaranteed spot in the 500. Dave will have to race for a spot in the 500. She sure doesn't deserve it. Maybe a spot on my pillow.

i am not a danica booster but points switching has been going on for quite some time. it is nothing new. as a matter of fact michael waltrip racing tried to buy the assets of red bull racing this year so they could get owner points for one of the red bull cars to use for their new team with driver clint bowyer.

other teams have bought the points from teams before. it is nothing new.

in this case with danica the owner points are staying at TBR, they are just going to be moved to another car. teams do that all the time.

by the way danica is only going to be in that car for 10 races the whole year. david reutimann is going to be in the car for the other 26 races.

the owner points from last year are only good for the first five races of this year, then they start using 2012 owner points to guarantee top 35 in points starting spots.

danica is only going to be in one race in the first five races of the season. reutimann is going to be in the other four. so it is reutimann who is going to get the most advantage as he will have a guaranteed starting spot for all of his first 4 starts in the car.

if reutimann can't keep the car in the top 35 in owner points both he and danica will have to qualify on time for the races they each drive the car in. since danica has a limited schedule in cup this year i am sure her team wants her to get the most experience and the most seat time as she can. by finding a way to make sure she will be able to race for sure in at least one of her 10 events they have helped. it could very well be up to her to make the other shows if reutimann can't keep the car in the top 35 in points.

Come on guys, it's the 500. You know as well as anyone it's a lottery. They're giving her a shot guaranteed in the show for sponcership, she can race a car, it's not like they are putting one of us in it.

the other poster said that if dave was in the car he would make the show for sure. that meant he could qualify on time. i just mentioned that dave will be driving his own car. so if he could race his way into the show in one car he should be able to race his way into it in the other.

well reutimann is taking daves guaranteed starting spot in the other 4 races that last years points guarantee.

i don't hear no bitching about that.

besides, you guys think dave has a better shot at putting a car in the 500 on his own than danica.

if that is true TBR is doing the right thing in order to have the best shot at having two cars in the 500.
