DanICKa will drive a Tony Stewart Racing prepared car for 10 races. David Reutimann will drive the other 26 races but the cars will be provided by Tommy Baldwin. Both will count owner's points towards the same number 10 entry for TBR. Blaney will be in the 36 forced to qualify on time the first 5 races. That is as simple as I can make it. And for those of you questioning Dave Blaney and the whole start and park thing? Tommy Baldwin only parked the 36 car once last year, FYI. And do you think any of those car owners want to park the car? Tires, fuel, pit crews and engine rebuilds...way too much money and the purse doesn't cover it. When Dave drove for Prism and parked weekly he made a lot more money than any sprint car drivers do and he kept his name in the mix and ended up with a pretty good gig with Baldwin. Come on man, nobody should ever drag Dave's name through the mud. The guy won Knoxville, WoO, the chili bowl and a USAC champ car title. He still runs some dirt and his family owns a dirt track. What does he owe anybody? In case you don't remember, or you never actually learned that he is a good guy here is a very recent video you should watch....

just one thing about start and park and your comment about any owners wanting to park the car. you mentioned that tires, fuel and pit crews and engine rebuilds are way too much money and the purse don't cover it.

when you start and park you don't have tire fuel and engine rebuild bills that amount to as much per race.

you also don't have as much of a crew.

the money you can make for finishing in one of the last four positions is more than enough to pay your bills and have money left over if you don't have the expense of running the full race.

that is why some small teams can make money by starting and parking. other wise they wouldn't be doing it.

you asked if those car owners really wanted to park the car, yes they do.

Blaney and TBR will benefit from the extra help and they already proved last year that they can get the job done. Danica is a marketing magnet and she's going to draw a lot of attention, it is what it is.

if Danica was a guy, no one would complain. GoDaddy has had a very large company growth since Danica started GoDaddy adv.. If Danica was not good for nascar we all would not talk about it. Facts are every one will be watching TV to see how she does. Nascar loves it.

Yeah, that is exactly what I meant....and wrote. Two sets of tires versus 8. Practically zero engine work versus a rebuild/new motor. Shop guys can be the "pit crew" instead of having a dedicated team or hiring one. The one thing you have wrong is that you think that S&P teams don't want to race. They do but lack the funding so they simply do what they can to get to the next race. Even when they park, except for the big races, they still don't make much money after all expenses are paid. I can even remember when Prism didn't have enough guys to fill a legal "pit crew" and had to get guys to stand in the pit box just to be legal.

the other poster said that if dave was in the car he would make the show for sure. that meant he could qualify on time. i just mentioned that dave will be driving his own car. so if he could race his way into the show in one car he should be able to race his way into it in the other.

you are saying she is taking daves guaranteed starting spot in the 500

well reutimann is taking daves guaranteed starting spot in the other 4 races that last years points guarantee.

i don't hear no bitching about that.

besides, you guys think dave has a better shot at putting a car in the 500 on his own than danica.

if that is true TBR is doing the right thing in order to have the best shot at having two cars in the 500.

I just want to see more of her in the go daddy commercials and peak so quit hating on decent eye candy.

you are really getting confusing. you never compared two sets of tires to eight or any of that other stuff.

i never said all start and park teams didn't wish they could race. but they do want to park when they have to.

prism didn't have enough guys because they didn't bring enough guys. they did that to help cut expenses. nascar sort of changed the rules on them one day at the track and said teams had to have a complete crew at the track. before that, teams didn't have to have complete crew at the track.

if teams couldn't make any money starting and parking, they wouldn't do it.

Dave is making a good living and he gets to hang out with Danica and give her advice this year. Sorry but I don't see a problem here. wink

P.S. Dave said in a recent YouTube interview that he will be running the Sprint Car in five races, maybe more. So he makes a good living, hangs out with Danica and is going to be running more Sprint Car races. This is a problem?

She is hardly a top-tier driver, more like a bottom half of the Nationwide series driver. Had one of the top 5 or 6 cars in Nationwide and she was always running around 20th, race after race and would only move up if top 20 cars would crash or lose a motor or tire. The only cars she could stay in front of were the low budget cars. Sad that someone who can sell t-shirts only can receive so much attention. Funny how your gender (Danica), your surname (Jr) or you race (Hamilton) can give you so so much attention from the media, but to be fair, Hamilton is a great driver, though the championship he won should be tarnished, but thanks to his race, it won't be. Massa should have been the champion, he earned it. What happened to that car to allow Hamilton to pass it is to this day is not talked about. Forget the guys name, but he must have turned the ignition off just for about ten seconds allowing Hamilton to catch and pass him. Me always smelled conspiracy in that thing.

FACT IS: She can't do no worse then Kinser, and Swindle and T. Walker has done in Nascar!!!! FACT IS: Shes already way, way, ahead in bringing sponsors and attention to the series, then those three (and Blaney) ever did!

Sorry no bashing, just the FACTS need to be made clear!

S. kinser never had a chance, he got to nascar land and was told team was for sale. Crew members were going to other teams. Sammy if I remember right had a truck. They could not get it to handle , only to find out a chassis part was put on wrong. H. Arnett had enough and got rid of team. I do not know why people in stands do not understand that all teams are not capable of winning. I think it was Tony S. who advised drivers not to go to a team that had no hope of competeing. These teams make the drivers look bad, even though it is not drivers fault.

i hate to revive an old thread but here goes.

i heard mark martin will now have a guaranteed starting spot in the daytona 500 due to a deal that gets him points from another team.

oh crap, imagine that!

now i am waiting for all you people who mouthed off about trading points and that drivers should have to race their way into races to either eat crow, or to be total hypocrites, or to be mysteriously silent.

I will bite..... There should be no just getting into the race or any race, because you are somebody. Race/Time in or go home. That is how it should work. There is too much, "can't leave that person out attitude in society today" Be a big boy/girl and suck it up and say I did not make it in the race and I will be back next week.

Dump the provisionals too.

Ref: lkracecar, you speak for a ton of people about napcar and all the crap about getting to race. Message to Brian France, throw it all out,all the free deals, every damn car must run a qualifying lap or two to race, the fastest 43 get priority to race,No more top 35,no more champs prov.,no more trading points, buying your way in or selling your way out, however you look at it,now this is not about the Daytona 500 ,its its own pig,but to divide all the entries into two big heats is the way to do it but get rid of all the goofiness to get into the Big Wreck, oops,Race. Now lets go back and talk about people with arm restraints and wings on their cars that go to the car wash okay,I see enough taxi cabs everyday.

I'm pretty new to this stuff, but buying a qualifying position strikes me as complete crap. Its about racing, not buying positions. Whats next, buying a win? Trump vs. Soros? get real....

now that you people are all jacked up, remember something.

nascar sells tickets to people who expect to see their favorite driver or team race. they sell tickets in advance, sometimes WAY in advance of the events.

one of the reasons they have guaranteed starting spots based on points is to help make sure that most people can have confidence that when they get to the track, their driver or team will be in the show.

same thing with sponsors. those sponsors pay big bucks to have their names on those cars and fire suits.

when you can assure your sponsor you will be in the show, it helps you and the series.

most of you people ridicule nascar and rag on it and say you could care less about it.

still it is fun to listen to you people bitch about a series you supposedly can care less about.

carry on.

For the ones that gripe, moan and detest Danica, you guys sure do talk and write alot about her. If I didn't know better I would think you were all closet Danica fans with all the attention you give here.

Somebody mention buying a win or a starting position, what about buying a championship like Jeff Burton allowing Tony Stewart to pass him on the VERY LAST LAP at Phoenix (1 point) which in the end enabled Tony to tie and win the title. (Hey Roush and Ford would of done the exact same thing).

Danica love or hate her, you guys are all talking about her on a sprint car forum, go figure, how many sprint car races has she been in. Nuf Said on Danica
