I'm curious to see if this is the particular shot in the arm this team needed. I'm looking forward to that whole week of racing.

i would like to see ryan smith get another ride and kick some ass. it's hard for me to understand how you go from an incredibly consistent speedweek where everyone was happy...including heffner based on social media posts...to a few bad weeks and then getting kicked out of the car.

I agree 100%. The ironic twist was Smith ran all of 2020 without a bonafide Crew Chief and then was let go a week after one was hired. I did see the team is back to running a Maxim chassis with Stewart, rather than Smith's preferred X-1 Chassis, which makes sense given Shane's success with Bernie and the Indy Race Parts team.

I am not sure this is the right shot in the arm to be dominate but I do believe the combo of Stewart & Maxium will be better that Smith & X-1. Really wish Hefner the best of luck next weekend.

All I can say is I miss Greg Hodnett. One hell of a race care driver and an even better person.

Yeah it's puzzling why Ryan didn't win more in the car. Then again Lance didn't win much either in that car. I can't think of any local drivers looking for a ride or low budget guys who I think would be better than Ryan. Buckwalter maybe? Stewart's a good choice for an outsider. Been fast in the 71. I'd love to see the Warko team put a ride together for Ryan.

You can have a good car, you can have a good driver, you can have a good owner. But if you don't have chemistry between the car, the driver, the owner and last but not in the least a crewchief. Your defeated before the car gets unloaded. The Hefner car has had a multitude of good drivers. Greg was hot and cold from season to season. Why ? Nobody really knows but it was what it was.
After Lance and the 461 team parted ways he struggled to find that magic again. Well how many thought wonce he climbed in the 69k he was going to get that magic back. I surely did not.

Makes you realize just how talented some of these drivers are that go hot and cold like that When joining/leaving a team. In the case of Lance I'm of the opinion that he just didn't have that good of equipment/crew to work with vs what he has now. Yeah Kreitz doesn't have a lot of spares. His crew guys are all nearly pulling social security, but everyone of those guys knows their job and they do it well. Yeah Davey is Davey but those guys wouldnt be 1/2 as good as they are if that whole crew didn't have their shit together like they do. Because of that they run with the best of them When they run and are a threat to win everytime they hit the track regardless of who's in town. Its a total package.

Why is that? Are you anticipating something special?

Curious to see if Red Robin is on the car. Earlier post seems to indicate the change may have been been financially driven.

Might be some truth to that statement. Although Mike Heffner is wealthy by most standards, it is not like he had an unlimited supply of funds. Even though Hodnett was a professional and ran 90 races a year, he won enough for Heffner to support him and pay Crew Chief Ryan Hand. Let's face it, Heffner's business, Leland's is in the sports collectible business, which I am sure took a huge hit with the economic crisis. Although I admire Ryan Smith, and still think he is a heck of a driver, the wins were few and far between and maybe with the economy slowed down, Heffner took a pause....just sayin'

Well, Red Robin sponsors AJ Flick as well. Still on his car even though he hasn't had the best luck this year, outside of Lernerville, I mean. Not sure why they would drop one, not the other, but what do I know.
