Might be some truth to that statement. Although Mike Heffner is wealthy by most standards, it is not like he had an unlimited supply of funds. Even though Hodnett was a professional and ran 90 races a year, he won enough for Heffner to support him and pay Crew Chief Ryan Hand. Let's face it, Heffner's business, Leland's is in the sports collectible business, which I am sure took a huge hit with the economic crisis. Although I admire Ryan Smith, and still think he is a heck of a driver, the wins were few and far between and maybe with the economy slowed down, Heffner took a pause....just sayin'

I can assure you, there will be no issues with funding. Mike is doing just fine with or without Red Robin. They got all new cars and are ready to roll with Shane. I'm willing to bet he puts it up front. They took time off to reorganize the team and get the new cars ready. They'll have one of the best drivers in the country in the seat. Can't wait to see the #72 back up front where it belongs.

So Shane is the new full-time driver, not just for a few races?

I don't know if he will be in it full time or not but he's gonna be fast for the races that he does run it.

So after the commitment and success shane has with Bernie, he walks away for a unknown. I dont think its gonna happen like that.
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

seems like ryan smith got a bad deal if this is true. Why wouldn't you put in this effort for him?
i won't root against the 72...but I don't think this is anywhere near a slam dunk. If the sprint unlimited documentary was true...ryan was keeping that car running on and off the track. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see them run into mechanical issues.

Lance won a lot of races in the 88H, 77 and 25 too.
|
But it looked like his career was over in the 14 car in 2015 with one win in 60 plus races.

Ryan got a fair shake. It just didn't work out. They even switched from Maxim to X-1 chassis because that's what Ryan preferred. They had 1 win in two years. It's a results oriented sport. He was given 2 years to get the results and they just didn't come. Don't get me wrong, Ryan is a good guy but over the course of his career, wins haven't come in bunches. He has 1 career win at Port Royal, Williams Grove, Lincoln and Selinsgrove. That isn't exactly great. He's been very consistent at times but the wins just haven't come. He's a guy who I think everyone can root for and I hope we see him move on and find success elsewhere.

Not being from Pa, maybe you are not familiar with the Heffner 27/72, but it's far from an unknown. The car has had the best of the best behind the wheel...Hodnett, Dewease, Pittman and others. I think Stewart will find more success in this car, if it's more than a one race weekend gig.

It has had some of the best behind thewheel but it has been hot & cold even within the same driver's tenure. Time will tell what happens this time, I thought the last driver was a good choice but it didn't work out.

Ryan has a fulltime job besides racing. If you look at all the other drivers that Heffner has had, they all considered racing as their full time job. Heffner gave him a chance in top notch equipment and maybe with Ryan not being a fulltime racer took something away from having better results. I wish them both well and believe they will land on their feet. Time will tell.

There is no posse. That my boy is history. I don't believe anyone fears the competition in Pa. At all anymore. Hell, they can't even run with the All-stars. Besides Lumpy that can win when he takes somebody out there is really no one else except Lance. He runs such a limited schedule he should run well because everything is always fresh.
Macri is a bright spot but I don't see any other young guy that's a threat on most nights.

Ryan Smith got a ride in #6 BJD Motorsports car. Hope to see him in victory lane soon. Nothing wrong with consistency and not tearing up equipment too. Hope this team respects that just as much.

Well at the Tuscarora 50 you know Lance and Macri will be right there. Larson is going to be a fan favorite because of his huge SLM win. Gravel is backed by weikert's livestock. So there will be some home town fill even though a couple of the cars and drivers are on the road. Wagner runs strong at port royal in the zemco ride, I'd like to see them pull a rabbit out and end up in victory lane.

Mojo Tuesday.
With all due respect and more - and, despite the best efforts- this car hasn't had the mojo since Daryn Pittman in 2011.
And they lost the mojo in 2012 - then Pittman left.

Might be time for Posse Idol. Heffner 72 and Trone 39 should rent the Grove and have 5 lap Aussie elimination tryouts covered by Beerhill TV.

The 72 should cut the cord on the anchor he's pulling behind the car. Didn't expect that performance, move over and let the fast boys through fellows.
