per the JHR Facebook page they are done for the year. The recent episode with the PA DOT sounds like the final straw. You had to see it coming as it seemed they were running on a shoestring

I can only hope that someone has put enough money aside or investments to live on even if not enough to race on.

I gather it pertains to a safety inspection violation.

There have been a lot of fatalities in the mid state area (Rte 81 in particular) and the authorities are watching rigs like a hawk.

No fly zone for dicey stuff.

I would like to know what Pa Dot found?  I have my own trucking company and DOT is just another government racket looking for easy money.   The stories I and other truckers could tell about DOT would curl your hair. The people should be glad any truck is on the road.

Jack should have told the he was "undocumented" and was needing sanctuary and the cops would have left him go.  How dare he be a tax paying American citizen.

Pa DOT. May just be the worst in the country. Beside the state getting involved,  local communities also have there dot inspections. Terrible, just terrible.

Nah, I can tell you, as a truck driver myself, that Pa isn't as bad as Maryland, Virginia, Ohio or New York. It's the local municipalities in Pa, that have their own DOT officer, that are the real pricks. I hate the DOT.

Knowing that the DOT in PA is strict, why would you take a shitbox hauler there and risk getting checked? Just run legal and all is well ~ Signed a 30 year CDL holder

JHR's FB post mentioned one violation was the trailor safety chains were not crossed. It's ridiculous.

Leave it to our ridiculous DOT to derail Jac's season. They're a bunch of assholes. They don't give a rats ass about safety or anything else. That's just the excuse they use to find as many ways as they can to extort money from people. It's all one big racket to make more money for our state government to piss away on everything other than what they should.

I'm pretty sure that about 10,000 trucks roll through PA every day without incident from the DOT.

Great idea.

But it makes me wonder what his financial situation is?  $3,000 is a lot of money for me and most other people but this is an expensive sport.  If a $3,000 fine is going to sideline him, he might be in bigger trouble?  Is there more to the story?

Any form of aurhority can abuse its power and I am sure some do but the DOT is a very necessary institution. We hate them when they find problems with our equipment but should be thankful they ensure vehicle safety. How bad would it get if there wasn't a small amount of fear in every highway user that the little unsafe thing might get noticed.

I live 25 miles from the site of the April 6th bus crash that took 16 lives. If a DOT officer makes a trucker or bus company nervous enough to be a bit more particular about vehicle safety I can introduce you to 16 moms who would be thrilled.

Even though I may not know you, I

I tried to donate, but the "go fund me" page says it is no longer accepting donations.  It's hard to believe that Sheldon toured the whole country with that set up just last year!

This is a completely different truck and trailer than what Sheldon used last year.

I had trucks for several years and there are rules that have to be followed.CDL,med card, drug test, log book, proof of insurance are a few and with a race car how the fuel is transported can all result in hefty fines[$3000 seems excessive]. I trucked for many years and avoided scales if possible as once they find something they wont quit.Jac has been one of my favorite drivers for years and still can get it done. A badge turns some into pricks and I have dealt with several and there isnt much you can do about it. There is an appeal process but usually a waste of time.

The Gofundme page was a good idea but there has to be bigger issues than the $3500 fine. Its really unfortunate as Jac is one of my favorites.

I used to live in Edmonton and Calgary and in my work spent a fair amount of time in Sask.  In this case you had an inexperienced driver blow through a stop sign, period end of story.

I currently run a Staffing Agency where we specialize in Truck Drivers.  I am well aware of some of the complaints about the DOT (our MOT) being like the Gestapo, often.  Our biggest problem in Ontario is inexperienced (imported) truck drivers who are causing the vast majority of all the crap on our roads, as in the Sask. tragedy.....

Let me tell you a DOT Officers logic.  A DOT Officer will step out in front of a truck to alert and tell the driver to pull in they are about to be safety checked.  The truck is being stopped to check for lights, tires and BAD BRAKES.  Let me ask all you logical people would any of you step in front of anything that you thought was unsafe and could not stop ?  No we would not but that is what DOT does all day long.  That is the logic trucks have to work with.

What were the violations Jac's hauler was given?
