Why doesn't Patty chime in and give us the real story?  I know she lives on social media and the forums and am very confident she has read all of the above responses.  Plus, she is never one to keep very quiet.  Patty, what is the real story?

I'm pretty sure that about 10,000 trucks roll through PA every day without incident from the DOT.

You can bet your last dollar that if they had the manpower to pull them all over that is exactly what would happen.  Don't not get me wrong I agree that inspections are necessary because I deal with it but I also know that a lot of it is BS.

If someone is dying to know that bad, why not just make a public records request for the report?

Until then, everything is speculation, including the actions of DOT.  If the Haudenschild's really want to make it known and share their side of the story, that's their decision either way.

Couldn't agree more. What they do goes far beyond safety inspections and things like that. They have one primary job and that is to create revenue. They don't care about safety or anything else. It's all about money.

Well. I did post earlier on how bad the pa dot is. If they got written up for not crossing the chains on the trailer then that's just stupid and darn lazy on someone's part. Someone else posted they were missing a axle ? REALLY. I have to say it, they should have been fined. Maybe it is time for him to become a spectator and go watch his kid get it done.

This is a completely different truck and trailer than what Sheldon used last year.

Good to know and thank you.  Someone said the trailer was missing an axle.  If that's the case than they were sitting ducks!  Lord have mercy!

I would agree that towing a trailor with a missing axle was not the wisest decision the reality is it likely was not a big issu especially if it was a triple axle trailor. Heck a lot of trucks & trailers on the road are equipped to raise one axle off the ground so is it really any different?

To you and all of the other experts that have chimed in.  The axle was out during the Nationals but was also replaced before they left.  They most likely had a bearing go out on the way to Knoxville and got a new axle or had the old one repaired while they were there. My god people, if you are gonna chime in, have the facts.

There is at least 3 levels of inspection in Ohio, 1 is a driver only - just to make sure your alert. 2 is just lights - making sure they all are in working order. 3 is when they get the creeper out you know your ass is going to be there for awhile because they check every damn thing.

Had 2 straps on a empty N-Serve tank which is hazmat because of residue last contained. Went into the scale & D O T was in there & the tank was not up ugaisnt the wall like I had ask the guy to do so it shifted & 1 strap was sagging & as soon as the guy seen that he said something about getting it tightend up. He was cool about it.

The other thing in Ohio is a regular State Highway Patrolman pulls you over & see's something he doesn't like he'll be calling D O T & then there are just Hazmat or P U C O.so Truckers actually have multiple law enforcement to deal with.

So thet weren't wrong? Was the axle repaired or replaced? Have some facts if you're going to chime in.

Sure do, bud! Where you said "they most likely" was where you were speculating. And you confirmed what the other poster said, that they were missing an axle at Knoxville, so they weren't wrong either. Then you provided more information, that it was replaced before they headed home.

If you want to correct the record and complete the story, by all means do it. Don't tell people to get the whole facts before they start speculating, and then speculate what was wrong with the axle. In other words, relax, calm down. Could have just said they had a problem with the axle and replaced it before heading home and not jumped on other posters.

Pa DOT. May just be the worst in the country. Beside the state getting involved,  local communities also have there dot inspections. Terrible, just terrible.

Just in from the news desk........

An officer with the Pennsylvania State Police Motor Carrier Enforcement unit is under investigation and facing charges for allegedly forcing a rookie driver to perform sexual acts during a vehicle inspection.

On August 23rd, an unnamed female trucker was undergoing her first ever vehicle inspection on I-81 in Dorrance Township. The inspection was being carried out by Robert Aigeldinger, a 49-year-old inspection officer.

According to the criminal complaint filed against him, Aigeldinger made inappropriate sexual comments to the driver including commenting that “I bet you have a fat [expletive].” He also told the woman that he would let her pass inspection in return for oral sex.

Aigeldinger then allegedly climbed into the truck, told the woman to go to the sleeper area, stood in front of her, and unzipped his pants. The trucker told investigators that she was scared of Aigeldinger because he was in state trooper uniform and it was her first inspection.
