Well I'm not Johnny but I've been to 6 tracks so I'm just gonna go ahead and list all of them. I'd like to preface this I really enjoy all the tracks and will go back or have gone back again! Love that Route 44 and Mansfield reopened this year, always good to see tracks come back.

1. Attica Raceway Park (Attica, OH)

2. Wayne County Speedway (Orrville, OH)

3. Lawrenceburg Speedway (Lawrenceburg, IN)

4. Mansfield Speedway (Mansfield, OH)

5. Fremont Speedway (Fremont, OH)

6. Route 44 Speedway (Liberty, IN) Formerly Union County Raceway

He posted a nice long list a year or 2 ago. Someone should find that link and repost it here!

1) River Cities Speedway (Grand Forks, ND)  2) Eagle Raceway (Eagle, NE)  3) Atomic Speedway (Waverly, OH)  4) Ohsweken Speedway (Ohsweken, Ontario)  5) Cottage Grove Speedway (Cottage Grove, OR)   All for the same reason:  Fantastic racing the vast majority of the times I've attended each track.

I'm only going to list one track in the "worst of" category, simply because in every possible aspect (racing, facility, etc.) nothing will ever be as bad as Pennsboro, WV.  (I hear they're trying to re-open it, and if that's the case, perhaps I'll get there someday and reasses my opinion. But for now, it stands unmatched as the worst race track I've ever attended.)

... as the air in the "balloon of pride" that is Pennsboro, WV begins to slowly escape its vessel. pffffft....  Smile

FYI:  Midco Sports (cable company in the Dakotas region) is advertising they will be covering the races from River Cities Speedway the night of June 23 @ 7pm, if I am not mistaken.

Thanx,
Bruce

Atomic is one of my favorites as well. I hope that some day the Outlaws can run there as I believe the last time they ran there was a little bit before I was able to start going to the races. I wish we could get a few more outlaw races in Ohio in general since outside of Eldora, we only have 1 other track which is Attica that the Outlaws appear at this year (I believe 2 last year with Attica and Fremont). Kind of odd as I think track wise, we have some of the best facilities in the country racing wise (not knocking any other states so relax) with obviously Attica and Fremont being two, but I saw probably 2-3 of the best Outlaw races at Limaland when they had the Brad Doty classic, Atomic obviously is racey, Then you have Waynesfield which probably puts on the best All-Star show of the year every year, Sharon Facility wise is awesome, and even Wayne County is great.

I know its hard with the way the schedule works and so many variables with promoters go into planning and making a show but hopefully the Outlaws can visit some of these tracks as the car counts would be exceptional and the stands packed.

Ah, yes- Pennsboro.  Quite a unique facility....equipped with its own little stream that ran through the infield and all.  In fact, the place was such a shithole that one almost had to like it.  One thing is for certain though, that shithole did draw a crowd and will forever be a huge part of dirt late model history!  And the crowds....they were as entertaining as the racing!  The Wild West revisited!  Miss that old place.  Lol

Johnny--if the World of Outlaws had visited Freeport Raceway Park (Freeport, IL) during your tenure, I can assure you there would be two on your "worst of" list.  Smile

My five least favorite tracks:

5.  Any track with no community support

4.  Any track with no fan support

3.  Any track with races cancelled due to rain

2.  Badlands Motor Speedway  (only because I had planned on visiting this Saturday night on my way through to family vacation!)

1.  Freeport Raceway Park   (And even with it being #1 on my worst of list, I still miss it every Saturday night.  Fans---you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone.  Support your local track often!)

I love Cottage Grove.  I have race from 1994 on tape I've watched a dozen times at least.

Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

Tuesday's race at Eagle (after a five year absence) justified your #2 ranking....a great field of 32 cars, a last lap pass for the win by Kyle Larsen, and plenty of exciting racing (even through the hole in turn one that WOO drivers described as giving the track some "character"...LOL)  had the full grandstands worked into a frenzy at the checkered flag.....great working with you again Johnny "G" ....hopefully we can do it again next year...........SC

1. River Cities (miss that place, was my home track when I was in college. Best weekly show on the planet IMO)

2. Lincoln Speedway (I don't think I've ever been so interested in a weekly show as I am at Lincoln, the racing isn't quite as good as RCS, and the entire show isn't as exciting down through the roster on a weekly basis, but the 410 division is excellent)

3. Port Royal Speedway (Great track, great facility, and great racing -- especially for Late Models. I think Dirt on Dirt had a drivers polls where it was ranked in the top 5 Nationally by drivers and its been upgraded since then with new lightning, etc)

4. Dirt Track at Charlotte (Only get there once a year, and maybe its the fact that it is for my favorite race but it always seems to produce great racing in the 410s and SLMs, and the facilities are unmatched of course and the production is too)

5. Devils Lake Speedway (Random track to be on this list I'm sure, but I saw a few 410 Sprint shows at Devils Lake in North Dakota and its a great track for Sprint Racing, the facilities are cool too with a bar track side with a patio to watch the racing while having a few cold ones at the bar -- plus what track has crab legs or rib eye steak available during the races?!)

Least Favorite

1. Selinsgrove (Absolutely can't stand any track where I can't see everything from my seat. Racing is a spectator sport -- I guarantee Selinsgrove would be one of the tracks I would frequent if the pits were not in the infield)

2. Big Diamond Speedway (I have been to one race here.. WoO Late Models back in 2014 -- I've never seen so much dust at a track in my life. I sat in turn one and could not see anything from turn 3 to half down the front stretch. I walked out about 10 laps into the 40 lap feature because I couldn't see anything)

3. Dog Hollow Speedway (In the middle of nowhere, facilities were alright, racing was alright, but in general I would not take a trip to this one again)

4. Hesston Speedway (In the middle of nowhere, facilities were alright, racing was alright, but in general I would not take a trip to this one again)

5. Williams Grove (I do go here occasionally, but the reserved seat issue makes it so I can't get a decent seat unless I commit to an entire season. I often choose to go to TW and pay the same admission fee to see 358s for this very reason. I don't think I've ever seen a real good race there either. I know they happen but just not in front of me I guess)

I'm going to add some Sprint Car tracks to my list of tracks I've been to here this year hopefully. I plan to go to races at Lernerville, Attica, Mercer, and probably even a trip to Eldora for the 4 Crown race so my opinions might be different by the end of the season.

Thanks,
Jeff.

Personal reasons ultimately, but I think the place is a dump. 17 flips in one night of All Star racing last fall on a track that was a minefield.

I have to agree with the "Do it again next year"!!!

It's always great to have the Greatest Show On Dirt visit our little facility. It's pretty much the only time that the wife and I get to see old friends.

I still think Johnny has Eagle ranked about 1 spot too low though. Smile

I am lucky enough to work at one of the best tracks
anywhere.

I wouldn't go as far as saying its a dump but understand what you are saying as a few updates are needed there. I was at the All Star race last fall when it seemed like everytime you turned around a car was tumbling. I remember Holtgravers car looking like a basketball in turn 1 and 2 going through the ruts. The rut in turn 1 has been there a while probably because that is where all the cars exit the track. Seems to have been an issue the past few years but when I went two weeks ago everyone was on the top of the track, it was smooth fast, Danny Smith Brandon Wimmer and Cole Duncan put on a great show.

I do wish they put their restrooms somewhere else when the place was built as the concession stand is not too far away and its directly behind/under the stands depending on when you sit and the stench seems to make its way out on a warm summer night. Just seems like a bad design and setup. Don't really like the smell of piss when I'm standing in the concession line.
