1. Knoxville Raceway - I lived in Des Moines for multiple years....If you know how to watch the race and sit high enough up to where you can scan the track and find the action...there is side by side racing somewhere. No event gets me more excited than the Nationals, the 360 Nationals can be just as exciting as well.

2. Williams Grove - I attended the Grove about 15 years ago...loved it and have always wanted to go back

3. Eldora - Went to a King's Royal there, loved the format and thought it added some opportunity for unlikely winners to a big money event.

4 - Eagle - Went to the NSL race there a few years ago.  Much different type of racing than I am used to and enjoyed the bull ring

5 - Husets Speedway - I have a lot of memories from this track and just love its look and positioning on the hill....one of those tracks that a local can win at any time the traveling series come through which makes for an exciting event -  (Dobmeier from 13th)

Ultimately I love different formats for big money races.  Knoxville Nationals, Kings Royal, Trophy Cup to name a few that have formats that you can create excitement.  I think we need more of this in Sprint Cars, Jackson Motorplex made a solid attempt at this for the Nationals this year...I think that format could use a bit of tweeking but it was refreshing to see someone try.  If I were to promote a race I would try to find something to make my race different and stand out, (Front Row Challenge) plus a traveling series coming in helps too.  Ultimately I think where we do lack in the sport is promoting the formats of each race to where the fans can follow along.  Being informed helps those who show up for the first time be able to follow along, the heats, time trials and multiple features can be confusing enough to a newcomer that they don't come back.  People don't like to feel dumb.

Least Favorite:

1.  About all I am going to say in this spot is that any time you attend a track that doesn't have sprint cars on a regular basis you take a risk on the track not being prepped well or the stands/facilities not quite being ideal.  I got spoiled living so close to Knoxville where the track prep and facilities are top notch.  A few years ago I bought a ticket at a track on the top row, well the top row at the same elevation as the row in front of it.  I paid for a seat near the flag stand and watched the race in the corner of turn 1 just to be able to see.  I thought I was buying a seat with the best view and had barely any view at all.

Worst I've ever been to:  Husets when it was Husets but I'll preface it by saying "only for the feature race" at Husets when it was Husets.  Been there many many times and by 410 sprint car feature time, the place is raining black dirt.  I'm the 2nd person here to have made this statement as my nephew agreed in a post.  They could work the track with moisture immediately before the 410 feature and by the 10th lap the 24 or more sprint cars' tires would have taken all moisture out and it would be nothing but dust. Funny thing is it wouldn't get dry slick for some reason.  Your shoulders and cap and lap would have an eighth inch of dirt on them by the end.  Only when once when Brennan had it and don't remember any dust during feature, but might have been a little.

Top 5

1. Dubuque IA Fairgrounds- incredibly racy joint, WIDE, BANKED bullring

2. River Cities- very racy bullring

3. Husets/ Badlands- my home track, seen 100's of great races there

4. Eagle- Very neat little joint, nice facility

5. I-55- Pevely - Been there for WoO sprints and UMP Summernats LMs, great racing

Honorable mention- 1/4 mile paved high bank track in Slinger, WI. I know its sacreligious to say on Hoseheads that you like a paved track but the Late Model racing here is great, I would call it the raciest paved short track in the world although there are a ton I have never been to.

Worst- Steele County Fairgrounds, Owattonna, Minnesota. Was a pretty neat fairgrounds, went to 2 Gopher 50's here in the 1990's, absolutely the worst one groove no passing parade/freight train type of "racing" I have ever seen.

Tuesday's race at Eagle (after a five year absence) justified your #2 ranking....a great field of 32 cars, a last lap pass for the win by Kyle Larsen, and plenty of exciting racing (even through the hole in turn one that WOO drivers described as giving the track some "character"...LOL)  had the full grandstands worked into a frenzy at the checkered flag.....great working with you again Johnny "G" ....hopefully we can do it again next year...........SC

Just wondering has the cell service got any better?

After last night at the poor ol Grove, I say any track with more than a hot dog to eat and a decent cushion. Simple as that.  We must do better.

Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

Less than 70 percent of the cars with flat black paint would help too.

Just me perhaps, but I've never had trouble with cell reception there. However, I'm with Verizon; so perhaps it's your carrier.

I am lucky enough to work at one of the best tracks
anywhere.

Found the thread, wasn't as old as I thought. I labelled Dubuque as the raciest track in the country.

My top 5:

1) port royal aka the speed palace - nuff said  2) Lernerville -alaways very racey  3) the grove - the history there counts for alot 4) oshweken- very nice track and glenn styres-the owner is very hands on and does alot for the place and the sport, 5) a tie between waynesfiled and lawrenceburg - both these tracks are high banked and racey- ther non wingers put on great shows .

I will only list one bad track  Bradford speedway-- went there once and the had parts of the stands blocked off with yellow police tape. The stands were actually falling down and there was no lighting in the grandstands -you couldnt see to walk. I fell over in the stands. wont go back
