After speaking with Jeremy Elliot at Williams Grove, I started thinking about what tracks I'd list in my PERSONAL top 25. My criteria is different than Jeremy's--I'm listing what I consider the 25 raciest tracks in the world on which I've seen racing.  So here's my list. . .

Good list. Not surprised to see it heavy on tracks 3/8th of a mile or smaller. With the exception of a couple 1/2 mile tracks (that you included), bullrings are just more fun to watch, imo.

I am surprised The Tulare Thunderbowl isn't on the list! It is the best track in California and one of the best in the United States in many drivers and fans opinons! Smile

Looking forward to the new Golden State King of the
West series schedule!

I also haven't been to many tracks outside of CA, but I am very partial to our bull rings and I think they make for great racing, so I am little sad that they didn't make the list! Calistoga is our best 1/2 mile track especially lately since they re configured it.  My local favorites are:

Tulare Thunderbowl (my favorite)

Placerville

Antioch

Petaluma

Watsonville

Calistoga

Marysville (gotta give my hometrack some love)

Stockton

Hanford

Chico

Santa Maria

Good list of CA tracks and we've run all but  a couple of them though we're stock car guys.  Tulare is a favorite but heard it was crap for the King of the West 410/USAC 360 show last weekend.  Seventeen flips must say something about conditions.

Tulare is definitely on my bucket list, along with Santa Maria....Also, I based mine on wing, nonwing and midgets, which BTW, I just realized I left the Chili Bowl off it!

I will say you cannot blame a lot of the wrecks  on the track conditions ......

Hawker, those are two good ones and you can throw in Ventura when you are out there, all racy places.

Been to 20 of Johnny's and would likely have most if not all of them on my personal list.

Glad to see Jeremy has stimulated conversation such as this, this forum could use more positive threads...

PS  John G. I am surprised Warrnambool never made the list, saw some great ones there...

Quite a few people seem to have that opinion, but to me it brings up an interesting question.    Out of all the tracks that run sprint cars, how many of them are 1/2 miles compared to 3/8 or 1/4?     It appears there are far more shorter tracks on Johnny's list, but is that because there are far more shorter tracks out there than bigger 1/2 miles?    Just food for thought, I don't know the answer that but it might be an interesting comparison.

What you are failing to realize, is that this is Johnny Gibson's top 25 list, which means it is his opinion.  If any of you have tracks that you think should be on a list, start your own.  He didn't ask anyone what 'their' favorite 25 tracks are, these are his so how can their be any argument to 'his PERSONAL list'?  Just sayin'

I think the chili bowl track is real racey! Johnny didn't say just sprint car tracks. Maybe he's never been there.
