Car count issue revisited. 10,000 to win race, was supposed to start 30 in the feature and 25 showed. This is still a major problem with this group.
Unfortunately NSL's other major problem surfaced again last night at Jackson. WHY DO ALL NSL SHOWS FUCK AROUND AND DRAG OUT THE PROGRAM SO MUCH?? Every NSL show I have been to has been like this and talking to friends that went to Park Jefferson and Eagle last year it was the same thing....... they really need to work and running a quick, efficient program and getting rid of all the unnecessary delays.

What are you talking about? I didn't even have time to take a piss, they had the next heat cars on the track right as the other ended. 60 plus cars done around 3 hours? Seemed fine to me.

The show sucked I was in the infield what a joke. No food , pit area organization sucked, total bullshit how the hot lap sessions started. Jackson wants to be a premier track well they got a lo g way to go. The top priority at this point needs to be track prep, as at a lot of tracks the surface sucked , like it did most of last season. I just hope Tod can find someone who can begin to make it a decent place to run a carand enjoyment for the fans cause right now it aint it.

I was at Jackson last night and I'm the first one to tell you I hate shows that are ran slow and slow down with beer and weenie breaks. If it a small field of cars it is not worth going to. I can also tell you last night at Jackson it was not ran slow and did not have a small car count. There were 27 410's and I believe there were 22 or 23 360's and 13 or 14 305's and no beer or weenie breaks. Sure there were a few things that need to be ironed out but with the brand new facility that they have, overall I think everything went pretty darn smooth. I guess there are these genious' that think they know more than everybody else, just once I wish they would put their money where their mouth is. " Oh, that's right they don't have any money to run a race track. Glen Murra I'm not afraid to put my name down.

Again no compliants at all about the track conditions, they had water in it and I thought it stayed decent all night. I prefer a tacky track to a dust bowl any day anywhere.
The first 410 heat was lining up at 9:00, it should have been much earlier. First 410 timed at 8:35, for God's sake run time trials BEFORE the advertised start time, the 28 people that actually like watching that boredom can stay seated while the rest do their "beer and weenie" breaks.
Not just getting on Jackson about this, last night Badlands was exact same thing....... these days ALL tracks think its about starting late and screwing around all night, I have no idea why.... it wasnt always like this!

$$$$$$ on concessions?
|
I can answer this one as I am sitting right by the menu at the concession stands, waiting on a lift to retrieve a temporary cable we ran for the broadcast.
Highest price menu item is Chili Cheese Fries at $5. 27 menu items and for $78 you could have one of each, so average price is $2.88.
Also, pit concessions were located in front of the scales, next to staging. Perhaps the gentleman complaining of no food in the pits above walked right by them. The stand does look kind of official as it is a refurbished souvenir stand from Daytona. Also interesting is that the grandstand structure comes from Daytona as well and the seats on the structure are the seats that were just removed from turns 3-4 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Check out our highlight of the nights racing on the Speed Shift TV Facebook page. I'd say anytime you have 410 Sprints 3-wide in the Feature, the track was pretty darn good and, as pointed out above, cars were being pushed onto the track while interviews were happening in Victory Lane. The only thing that got them was the later start due to throwing in an extra set of hotlaps for the 410s.
I sat out here at the track from Monday on and it is staggering the amount of work that was completed in the final week to make sure the track opened this past weekend. Hats off to anyone who was involved in that endeavor as at no point in my wandering did I see a single person standing around looking for something to do.

Knoxville finished at 10pm last night. Yes, small field of cars, 2 305 heats, 2 360 heats 3 410 heats and 3 A mains but several yellows and I believe 4 reds (2 longer ones). So, no, it's not ALL tracks!

Knoxville runs a tight ship, no doubt about it. One advantage they have is they have enough space to stage a feature on the front stretch pits. Badlands needs to do that with the heat races but probably doesn't have the room for features. I can't comment on Jackson, haven't been there for years.

Newbeevur,
Please list (1) "unnecessary" delay that we had at Jackson on Friday? Note, I said "unnecessary". Your words, not mine.
"The first 410 heat was lining up at 9:00, it should have been much earlier."
You are close, I pushed off the first heat at 9:03 but it was the 360's, then the 305's and then the 410's. We ran (3) 360 heats, (2) 305 heats and (3) 410 heats and were done by 9:52. That's (8) heat races in (49) minutes. My goal is (5) minutes per heat. I missed it by (9) minutes. Sorry.
"First 410 timed at 8:35,"
It was 8:32 by my watch but who pays attention to numbers? And we finished with time trials at 8:54. That's a total of (22) minutes. My goal is (50) seconds per car. I missed the total time by less than (2) minutes. Sorry.
"for God's sake run time trials BEFORE the advertised start time,"
What was the advertised start time?
"the 28 people that actually like watching that boredom can stay seated while the rest do their "beer and weenie" breaks."
Again you're close, there were actually (32) people that enjoyed time trials. Would have been (33) but there was an elderly lady that had to make a "beer and weenie" run and missed time trials. Man, let me tell you, she was pissed! She asked if we could re-run time trials just for her. I told her, "Maybe next time, now will you kindly find your seat, sit down, and shut the hell up." (Actually, part of that statement isn't true.)
Just trying to lighten the mood but seriously, pin point the "unnecessary" delays and I will get them corrected.
I want to thank you for your attendance at Jackson Motorplex last Friday and hope to see you again...z

Why were you in the infield? If you are going to the races to watch the races, go to the grandstands. If you are going to the races to help work on the cars, go to the pits. Don't go to the pits to watch the races and wander around with your head in the clouds. Also, don't go to the pits and expect the same facitlities as on the front strecth. People like you are the reason that pit area orginiazation is problematic. Let me guess, you were also mad that someone almost ran you over as you were looking at the cars?!

It was best racing I saw there in past 10 years on Friday. Once they started they move the show right along. They may need to start hot laps at 7:00. It looks like the new owner is going to give 110% on putting on a great show.Hope they keep up with the great improvements.

Right along with bitching on a public forum, which in the long run is not helping his wallet either.

I don't know what race track you were at Friday night. I have been going to races longer than I care to admit and while the heat races wern't all that great I did see a few drivers out there using their heads and looking for different lines to pass the car in front of them. So if you or your driver DIDN"T DO THAT YOU SHOULD LEARN HOW TO. As for the features the track widened out and there was alot of passing. Once again if you could not pass please learn how to. As for the concession stands in the pits, I think everyone knows that this is just a temporary set up so pizza and hotdogs probably weren't that bad. I guess you could have left early and stopped at Burger King before you got to the track. But please don't post a bunch of BS on here just because you weren't smart enough to stop and eat first so you didn't have to eat at the race track or you or your driver wasn't capable of passing cars in the heat races or the feature. We shouldn't let your negative problems screw things up for the Jackson Motorplex. Glen Murra

I have over 55 years of being a fan.....I've been going to Jackson since the early 60's. WOW! What is taking place at the track is amazing. What a beautiful and fan friendly racing facility it will be when completed. Made a couple trips through there during the renovation and including just a week before the opener. What was accomplished in the week leading up to the Friday night races was unbelievable. As for the racing.....I thought the show was great. The delay came from the double hot laps, which I've witnessed elsewhere many times. But I'd rather see the drivers work the track over more so than the push trucks. And a too dry race track does not lead to good racing. Keep up the great work!

Besides the 305's every race was won from the pole or outside row.....
Facilities are very impressive! Hopefully the track provides better racing going forward.
