Hillier scores top-12 finish at Eagle

EAGLE, Neb. - Chad Hillier had another good weekend racing with the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series as the Sedro-Woolley, Wash. driver made another A-Feature on Saturday night at Eagle Raceway in Nebraska.
Driving the DIRT Inc. No. 5c Maxim sponsored by Jansma Construction and Fast Wings, Hillier qualified ninth quickest on Saturday with a lap of 11.361 seconds around the 1/3-mile, high-banked clay oval. Finishing fourth in the third heat race, the former Skagit Speedway track champion qualified for the A-Feature event, where he would finish 12th and add another $1,200 to the team‘s winnings.
Hillier remains 18th in the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series point standings, but with his efforts Saturday he now sits only 14 points out of 17th and 135 behind 16th place.
The night before Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, South Dakota, things ended on a more disappointing note. Hillier finished seventh in the B-Main event, one spot out of the final transfer position. The driver who beat out Hillier for that last transfer spot was non other than the 20-time champion and Hall of Fame legend, Steve Kinser. For Hillier, who has been qualifying for A-Features more consistently in his second full season with the best winged sprint car racers in the world, it was his first missed feature in several weeks.
Two nights before Huset’s a Wednesday show at the Missouri State Fair Speedway in Sedalia for the Michael Ross Memorial Foundation race. Hillier again made the A-Feature event and finished 18th after transferring out of the first heat race. Hillier was 19th quickest in qualifying around the large ½-mile oval.
Next for the Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series is two nights of racing in the Boot Hill Showdown at Dodge City Raceway Park in Kansas this Friday and Saturday, June 20th and 21st. The “Greatest Show on Dirt” closes out the month of June with two events at a pair of North Dakota tracks, Red River Valley Speedway and River Cities Speedway, and an event at Cedar Lake Speedway in Wisconsin on the 27th, 28th and 29th, respectively.
