Van Dam scores second win of season at Elma ALK Promotions, June 16 ELMA, Wash. - Henry Van Dam is a winner again, racing to victory Saturday night at Grays Harbor Raceway. Van Dam scored his second win in 360 sprint cars in three weeks aboard the Van Dam Racing No. 33v Shark-powered Rocket, sponsored by Van Dam Dairy, Shareway Industries, Rich Van Dam Dairy, Corliss Resources and GMS Metal Works. The Enumclaw, Wash. driver started the 25-lap feature in the third position and quickly moved by six-time former track champion Jay Cole for second on lap three and held the position behind Steve Vague for a time. Lap 13 saw Van Dam make his move and pass Vague for the lead. Van Dam would lead the rest of the way and won the race over Jay Cole and up-and-comer J.J. Dishneau. Van Dam also turned in the fastest lap of the A-Main event, running around the 3/8-mile, high-banked clay oval in 12.792 seconds with an average speed of 105.535 miles per hour, coming on lap 16. Van Dam’s victory two weeks earlier also came at Grays Harbor Raceway in a 360 sprint car, and it was his first triumph since his neck injury in May 2007. With the victory on Saturday, Van Dam maintained his lead in the 360 sprint car point standings at Grays Harbor Raceway. Over the last four weeks, Van Dam has raced five times and has finished no worse than fourth place twice. Both fourth place finishes, including the prior Saturday, June 7th at Skagit Speedway, saw Van Dam come from the 17th starting position. He also finished second in the ASCS Northwest Region season opener at Grays Harbor after nearly making a race-winning pass on Jayme Barnes. Van Dam’s finishes have been second, fourth, first, fourth and first in that five-race span. In addition to being the points leader at Grays Harbor Raceway, Van Dam is also second in the ASCS Northwest Region standings, only four tallies behind Seth Bergman. The ASCS Northwest Region next races in July with six straight nights of action at five different tracks in Oregon and Washington in the annual Northwest Speed Week. - - - May 24 - Grays Harbor, WA: 2nd (ASCS Northwest 360’s) May 25 - Grays Harbor, WA: 4th (ASCS Northwest 360’s) May 31 - Grays Harbor, WA: 1st (Weekly 360’s) June 7 - Skagit, WA: 4th (Weekly 360’s) June 14 - Grays Harbor, WA: 1st (Weekly 360’s) - - - Henry Van Dam’s sponsors Van Dam Dairy Shark Racing Engines Corliss Resources Shareway Industries Rich Van Dam Dairy GMS Metal Works Speedmart Jack Dilley Logging D & L Equipment Repair Enumclaw Suzuki Chars Barber Shop Enumclaw Express Lube Foothills Auto supply Stanely Patrick Striping Pete Voss Bob & Joann Schumway Enumclaw Auto rebuild Fire Down Graphics - - - Grays Harbor Raceway - Elma, WA: www.graysharborraceway.net
