XXX chassis burning up tracks everywhere

The XXX chassis had another big weekend, especially in ASCS competition. In addition to the $25,000 Dirt Cup victory by Jayme Barnes, Travis Rilat and Ray Allen Kulhanek scored ASCS Gulf South victories in Texas and XXX chassis champion Brian McClelland got his first win of the season in ASCS Sooner Region action in Missouri. Over in Pennsylvania, Craig Myers took a XXX mini-sprint chassis to victory lane twice in 1000cc sidewinder action. Ron Krysl also took his XXX chassis to victory lane for the first time in Nebraska as did Shawn Lawler in New Hampshire.

Both ASCS Gulf Suth Region events this weekend in Texas were won by XXX chassis. Friday night saw the tour race at Golden Triangle Raceway in Beaumont and it was Travis Rilat who came from the seventh position to win for the second time this season aboard his No. 29. In that same race, ASCS Gulf South points leader Aaron Reutzel raced from tenth to finish runner-up behind Rilat in his own XXX. For Reutzel it was a new ASCS Gulf South record for consecutive Top 10 finishes.

Saturday had the Gulf South teams racing at Houston Raceway Park in Baytown. Ray Allen Kulhanek made it a XXX chassis sweep of the weekend when he came from the sixth staring spot to win the main event in Greg Coleman's No. 17. Kulhanek also won his heat race that evening and with his main event finish he now sits second behind Reutzel in the ASCS Gulf South standings.

Brian McClelland, a XXX repeat champion in the ASCS Sooner Region, got back into victory lane on Saturday at the Sooner Region event at Springfield Raceway in Springfield, Missouri. McClelland, driving the No. 87 XXX, took the lead on the second lap of the main event and never looked back. This capped off a very strong weekend for the XXX chassis in ASCS action this week.

Out in Nebraska, Ron Krysl took his XXX chassis to a win at Stuart Community Track, a small 1/5-mile dirt track out near the northeast corner of the state. Krysl had recently bought the new XXX chassis and he said he couldn't be happier with it. He and his team used the basic setups suggested by XXX and it paid off as Krysl won by an estimated 14 cars lengths on the little track.

Up in New England, Rattlesnake Motordrome in Wentworth, New Hampshire was the site of a sprint car contest and it was Shawn Lawler who scored the victory in a brand new 2009 XXX chassis his team had recently purchased. Lawler stated he was very pleased with his car as he drove away from the rest of the field and easily won the event.

Back in Pennsylvania, Craig Myers continued the XXX mini-sprint's winning ways as he himself won twice in a 1000cc sidewinder sprint. Myers first won on Friday night at Path Valley Speedway in Spring Run, where he also won in April. The next nigh at Trail Way Speedway in Hanover, he won again. It was a good evening in general for Myers as he finished second in a make-up feature at the start of the program. It was his own brother Chad who won that make-up race and kept Myers from sweeping the weekend.
