Rilat & Berryman win ASCS races, Barnes & Frontz first time winners in XXX sprint cars

Memorial Day Weekend across the United States was a very successful one for Triple X Race Co. as several drivers scored main event wins in their XXX sprint cars, including a Travis Rilat's ASCS National victory in Kansas and Brandy Berryman's Gulf South triumph. Two drivers, Devon Barnes and Jordan Frontz, scored first career victories this weekend driving XXX sprint cars also, with Frontz winning at Port Royal Speedway in Pennsylvania. Bob Martin was a victor in NOSA competition in South Dakota and Billy Aton was again a winner in a wingless spec sprint in California.

At this weekend's Steve King Memorial at the Jetmore Motorplex in Kansas, it was Travis Rilat who scored the preliminary main event win in the Lucas Oil ASCS National Dirt Sprint Car Series on Saturday night. Shane Stewart pressured Rilat several times, but Rilat used lapped traffic to his advantage and led all 30 laps in his No. 29 XXX. He also finished third in the $10,000-to-win finale on Sunday against a full field of talent.

Also in ASCS action, reigning Gulf South Region champion Brandon Berryman got his first win of the season Sunday night at Lone Star Speedway in Kilgore, Texas. Driving the No. 31 XXX sprint car, Berryman also led every lap of the feature, 25 laps in this case. His win was worth $2,500.

As has happened every week so far at Skagit Speedway in 2009, a XXX sprint car scored at least one main event win at Skagit Speedway. This time it was Devon Barnes who drove his No. 22 XXX to his first career victory in the Cook Road Shell Sportsman Sprint feature. Triple X Race Co. congratulates Devon on his first win!

Another first time winner scored in a XXX sprint car also this weekend, this one happening in Pennsylvania. Jordan Frontz ended up climbing atop his No. 19 XXX sprint car to wave the checkered flag after winning the 358 sprint car feature at Port Royal Speedway on Saturday. Triple X Race Co. also congratulates Jordan on his first victory.

In the Midwest, it was Bob Martin who scored the Northern Outlaw Sprint Association victory in 410 competition at Dakota State Fair Speedway in Huron, South Dakota. Driving his No. 10tr XXX, Martin started in the third position and on Lap 17 he got around reigning series champion Lou Kennedy Jr. for the lead and led the rest of the 25-lap feature.

Billy Aton's 2009 success continued as he was a winner for the third time this season in wingless spec sprint car competition in the state of California. He won Saturday's feature at Marysville Raceway Park in his No. 26 XXX. All three of Aton's wins have come at different tracks.

North of the border in Canada, Colton Akerstrom drove to the sportsman sprint victory Saturday night at Castrol Raceway's weekly "Nite Thunder" show in Edmonton, Alberta over an impressive 23-car field. It was a sweep also for Akerstrom as he also won his heat race earlier in the evening.
