Carpenter wins again in XXX sprint car, Droescher and Lemley score too

The XXX sprint car continued to rack up the main event victories this weekend, and some came in dominant fashion.

Every night Skagit Speedway has raced, a XXX sprint car won at least one main event. Triple X Race Co.'s own Kelsey Carpenter continued his dominance of the sportsman sprint division at Skagit Speedway. Driving his own No. 27c XXX sprint car, Carpenter was a main event winner for the third time in four tries and currently holds the lead in the division point standings. After finishing second in his heat race, Carpenter took the lead on Lap 10 of the main event and proceeded to run away with it from there. His margin of victory was a whopping 8.713 seconds!

Also at Skagit, former track champion Brock Lemley scored his first win of the season in the 360 sprint car main event, driving the No. 40 XXX sprint car. Lemley patiently ran in second place behind fellow XXX driver and former champion Brian Kirkpatrick for most of the race. The two commenced battle in traffic and on Lap 22 Lemley made his move, passing Kirkpatrick on the low side as they went through the second turn. Kirkpatrick would finish second behind Lemley.

In South Dakota, Randy Droescher was a winner at I-90 Speedway in the 360 sprint car main event aboard his XXX sprint car. After his win Droescher dedicated his victory to longtime Midwest sprint car racing supporter Duane "NoDust" Davis, who passed away recently.

Jay Cole of Shelton, Wash. scored his first win of the season in his No. 0J XXX sprint car Saturday at Grays Harbor Raceway. After winning his heat race earlier in the evening, Cole went on to lead all 30 laps in the 360 sprint car main event. Cole turned in the fastest lap of the main event, making his way around the 3/8-mile, high-banked clay oval in 13.483 seconds on Lap 10. Only one other driver clocked a lap under 14 seconds.
