Engberg wins, Quick is fast in XXX sprint cars The XXX sprint car picked up more victories this weekend, taking checkered flags in Washington and New York. Every time Skagit Speedway has gotten its full show in this season, Triple X Race Co. has scored at least one main event victory. That continued on Saturday as Nick Engberg scored his first win of the year in the 360 sprint car division. Engberg took the lead on the start and never looked back, leading all 25 laps and posting the fastest lap of the race at 12.313 seconds. He nearly pulled off a double also, taking second place in the 410 feature. The Capital Region Sprint Agency, which is sponsored by Triple X Race Co. raced at Utica-Rome Speedway in Vernon, New York and it was Jeremy Quick who scored the victory in his XXX sprint car. Afer winning his heat race earlier in the evening, Quick started the 25-lap main event in the fifth position. By lap 13 he had established himself in the second position after a three-way battle for the spot. Once there, the Kerhonkson, N.Y. driver wasted no time going after race leader Mason Olmstead. Quick caught up to Olmstead on lap 15 and immediately challenged for the lead. Seeing that the bottom wasn't working, Quick decided to move up the track and saw the the middle and top grooves were working more to his liking and make him faster. He took the lead around turns three and four on lap 16 and quickly opened up a comfortable lead. He did have a scare at the end as a slower car spun around right in front of him as he was coming around turn four for the checkered flag. Quick's XXX sprint car avoided the spinning car and crossed the finish line in first place.
